Actually I'd recommend Olde Eynsford made by Goex as it gives similar performance with a smaller price tag and is made in America.

rodwha, never tried O.E. Shot Goex years ago. I fall into the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" camp. With many of my muzzleloaders shooting sub MOA at 100 yards, I'm not about to change. That being said, I've heard good things about your powder of choice. What ever works is the right choice.

Most understandable for sure. For the most part I'm not much different. But apparently being born in Japan rubbed off on me in that I strive for efficiency. In this case it would be cost. I also appreciate supporting our countrymen.

However no one else makes an energetic 4F powder, and once I get a Pocket Police I'll likely be buying some Swiss as well.

Good point rdstrain49. I actually tried to be careful with my changes. I have not changed the bullet, other than to try a powerbelt (did not like it). Prior to going to loose powder, I used the 777 pellets (100gr), and only dabbled between the ribbed black and smooth black sabot. I liked the ribbed the most. Next time out I switched to BH209 powder (and the appropriate breech plug), and shot the favorite bullet/sabot combo with good results at 80 grains. Groups tightened and it mattered not if the barrel was unfired or fired, hot or cold. Next was increasing the load slightly in order to see even better grouping at 100 yards.

I am going to do one final major change. I ordered some red ribbed sabots. Will the larger sabot fit into my barrel okay, and will it improve my results? If nothing really changes, then back to the black ribbed sabot. Once that is resolved, I will have the bullet, sabot and type of powder taken out of the equation. The final piece of the puzzle will be, how many grains of powder (so far 85 gr by volume is the leader).

Do you think I am on the right track? Pete

I don't mean to hyjack the topic, but.

rodwha, I have a Uberti Pocket Police, it shoots very well with 3 fg. As light as the weapon is, I would never use 4 fg.
I am planing to use 4f behind the Colt pattern chronicles because I can only get about 12 gr. in it. I have made paper cartridges with 15 gr. of 4f and round ball.
