Whats the prices of the the Mosin M91's going these days? Not the M91/30 but a M91 dated 1917. I passed up a M91 that someone got for $175 and i wasn't willing to go $200. Seemed to me that 200 was a bit much, but i am not sure what they are going for.

depends on condition, manufactorer, if it had been converted to any of the latter models.

was it all matching numbers?
do you remember the arsenal?
do you know if it was a Dragoon or an Infantry rifle?
was it converted to meters (as opposed to arshinii )

a Westing House or Remington will get a much higher price over a russian of the same vintage.

The prices on these are heading North, esp. for matching examples. Check for Austrian capture marks like the letters on the stock or the little bear stamp. As Hoppy notes, the US made ones have gone up a lot in value. Most were sporterized or hacked. A mint condition one fetched nearly a grand on gunbroker a while back. I don't think you can lose for $200 or even more on an all-matching PTG or similar Czarist M-91. They're fine rifles, too.

condition i would say good. some matching like the buttplate, magainze and reciever. No cleaning rod. It was the infantry model i believe, about 2 inches longer than the m91/30 they had. Not sure what arsenal. And as the sight it appreared to be meters, but i wouldn;t know what arshinii would looke like.

The arshinii markings would standout in a way that the M91 site would not go up to 20 (2000 meters) but instead go up to 27 or 24 depending on the model (if I recall correctly).

Now another thing, did you notice if the gun's front sight was a enclosed (round globe) sight? Or was it a sight that had a post standing up?

Specifically look at these:

I am wondering if this was an ex-dragoon (if so I have been turning down one at a local pawn shop from '27 Izhevsk for $60).

spoted one today at the gun show

Gun is a Mosin Nagant Model 91, Remington MFG, stock finish wasnt all that great. Guy was asking 175

Oh, here's the kicker, it's got a Finn reworked stock, metric sight, and the barrel was minty-fresh

-Didnt have money or interest though

The front sight was not enlcosed and had a striaght back. I can not remmember what the numbers went up to, although the rear sight was the curved style.
