Okay, I just got one off of ebay, but the thing is as hard as a rock. Now, I think the extra length of pull will be a good addition, but i don't know how much recoil will be absorbed

That's what I have. Anyone else have one? Is it hard rubber or soft? Like or dislike?

In best Russian soldier voice:

Pad is what woman uses when is not having babies to soak up weakness. :p

ummmm, I rather like the cushy pad on my ATI. That steel plate hurts:eek:

I recently picked up a Limbsaver for my 91/30, but haven't tried it. I like that it is a slip on so that it is easy to remove or swap to another Mosin if needed (never can have too many Mosins;))

I don't understand what people are doing that causes the pain in the first place. Are you keeping the buttplate an inch out from your bone, then letting it slam into you? Recoil from a .30'06 level cartridge out of a 7-9 lb. rifle is simply not that bad.

I believe that there are a number of curved recoil pads that can and do work for the mosin, as a matter of fact I saw one for the 10/22 that looks exactly like what is being sold for mosins, and if they are that hard, well with a .22 you mostly need more length. I got a limbsaver slip on, it does wonders...

Cosmoline: I'm just a skinny guy wimp. I need all the padding help I can get. Actually, the M38 wasn't *that* bad - I regained full use of my sore shoulder within 3 days.
