Last weekend, I had my pgo 500 (converted from field) out. I put 25 rds through it which is not enough. Anyway, The hammer would fall. I am usually too fast when I get out and start showing but it seemed like there was a shell in the chamber when the hammer would fall., but I inspected the primers on the unspent shells on the ground and my eye couldnt detect any markings. I could stell have a shell stop issue and its just letting too many out and/or wrong.

So, if I DID have a firing pin issue....I'd probably still see at least faint strikes on the primer, correct?

At any rate...I'm taking it out with a box of 100 and I'm going to put it through it's paces with different followers and a new shell stop and troubleshoot it.

I have a Duck hunting buddy that had the hammer spring retaining pin back out of his 500.

The spring stayed in place but relaxed to the point that the gun would not fire every time the trigger was pulled.

I don't know if it dimpled the primers every time. It did however fire more than it failed to fire.

The part that backed out on my buddies gun was item 39 on the trigger group schematic below. Am I understanding correctly that; you're not sure if the shells are making it into the barrel or; are being dumped on the ground before the carrier picks them up. It sounds to me like you're more than likely having a fail to feed issue. Were the shells at your feet or off to the side like they had been ejected?

feet, more or less. it seems to feed just fine during rack and feed drills at home. that's the weird part. it definitely didnt before. i bent the shell stop and it works fine during drills, even before these issues out shooting.

i ordered a new shell stop. deep cleaned everything, oiled and reassembled. going to take the gun out w/ the new shell stop, magazine spring and mag follower and troubleshoot on down with 100 rounds. start with original config....slow fire...rapid fire...then start tweaking as needed.
