There has been some confusion out there if the OKC3S fits the 590A1 does it? Also what do you think of the OKC3S? READY......GO!

its a m16 bayonet right? I think that is the only requirment. just like the m7 fits. I have heard the M9 lacks in the durability department, is the okc3s an improvement on the the m9?

Yes the USMC replaced the M7 with the OKC3S and it was designed to fit on the M-16. If im not mistaken they chose it instead of the M-9 design to more resemble a KABAR, so basically its a Fighting/Utility knife first ,and Bayonet second.

OK, I'll bite. I have a 590A1 with a Surefire forearm light. How would a bayo attach? Picture, please!!

Hey, that's pretty cool! When you stick the bayonet in the sheetrock trying to manuver in a hallway you can click the light on and be able to see the damage! Neato!

Actually, I'll be it would look pretty intimidating with the bayonet all lit up by the light. Shame there's not a way to get the blade (and anything that might be in front of it) out of the shadow of the pommel of the knife.

Guys the bayonet is used to subdue someone with nonlethal force.....Check that, less lethal

A knife or bayonet is not "less lethal" force. And who are you subduing? If you have the legal justification to use a knife/bayonet, you have the legal justification to shoot.

It was a joke lol. We all know that unless your gunna use your gun as a spear then a bayonet is pretty much just to make it look cool.

The OKC3S definitely fits the 590A1. I have both at home. That bayonet is a beast with an 8inch blade...
Sweet I'm ordering mine very soon. I was looking at getting a KABAR style knife until I came across this bad boy! Hows the quality of the OKC3S compared to the M-9?

The OKC3S is RUGGED. It one of the largest knives I own. If the 'balloon went up', that's the knife I would take with me as I head for the hills. The blade is well 'parkerized' with a zinc phosphate nonreflective finish, however the exposed edges will require maintenance/attention as the blade is constructed of carbon steel...which will rust if not cared for.

my 590A1 doesn't have that bayo mount.

?...was it removed?

Do you use the ceramic sharping rod on the back of the sheath? If so how easy is it to use for a touch up?

Bayonets are so you can fight like it's 1799.

I like them, but I guess I have to admit they aren't the most practical of accessories. But you have a lug, so there is no good reason not to have a good bayonet for it. If you have an AR with the right layout you can use it on that too. Again, not the most practical accessory for a U.S. privately owned firearm, but who's it hurt?

Have yet to need to touch up the edge. The ceramics will work but I will have a better set with me for that.

creature any chance for a pic?

ive heard that because the m9 "slips" over the muzzle break/flash hider it has enough play to reach the bayo lug
but on the 590 it goes over that small step down on the mag tube cap and cant always reach the lug properly or the oposite where it reaches the lug but doesnt catch the mag tube and then you need washers on your cap to extend it far enough to reach

ive been hesitant to buy an OKC3S just for that reason and no diffinitive proof that it works

Seems like it would be most useful for hog hunting with slugs. In case the porker doesn't quite go down and takes exception to you putting nearly 3/4" holes through him you know. Bayonets started out as hunting tools, why not go full circle with them?

I've heard bayonets are good for holding your gun upright and out of the mud when you're not using it.

they can also me used to make sure your target doesn't move.

...and for cutting fruit
...and for lobotomizing that spider in the corner of the ceiling that you can't reach
...if you need to make tactical coleslaw a bayonet will hold the cabbage onto the end of your shotgun for you

Plus they look cool and are fun to play with!

For actual civilian defensive use... maybe if you were barricaded in a room waiting for police to arrive and remove an intruder. It would give you an option if your weapon malfunctioned at the worst possible time. I wouldn't clear a house with a bayo fixed, but civilians shouldn't be clearing houses anyway, right?
