Most Accurate .22lr

I've got a couple and both meet my needs fine. My first rifle was a Marlin 99 M1. It's basically the Model 60 action outfitted with a M1 Carbine style stock. I've had this gun for about 45 years. Had the action rebuilt once, and it still performs like a champ.

I also have my father's Remington Nylon 66. This to me is one of the all time American .22 classics.

Hurricane: Did such a Marlin 60 have a typical stock trigger with no modification?

As far as I know it is stock, it was passed down from my grandfather. Never had a scope on it so I don't know what the potential is. I've always been impressed with the accuracy of the 60's, never been around a bad one.

I have an old Mossberg 144 heavy barrel with peep sites and I got an anschutz from an old lady that wanted to give it me after I fixed her house. I gave her 300 for it and bought every 22 match ammo made when you could just walk in a store and buy what you needed for a days shooting spent a day shooting both with all the ammo and the Mossberg shot the same sometimes better then the anschutz. so I sold the German gun. I have outshot guys with scopes with peep sites

Anschutz 54 Match, Remington 40x, Remington 37, Winchester 52?...Sure....Marlin Model 60?...Ain't no way.

Well, I have (2) Anschutz right now, have owned the 40X, 52 and a few others... BUT, i think you left one out that's as good or BETTER than all of those.

Melvin Forbes ULA Model 20 rimfire rifle!! The quality absolutely IS there to be a top of the line, most accurate 22RF. It's the most precision made, finest 22 i've ever fired.

My vote goes to ULA!

I shoot local br matches weekly, including sporter weight. The guys I shoot with use CZs, Rem 541's, Finnfires, and Anschutz. None of them are nearly as consistent as the heavy guns. The winner today might be the loser tomorrow.....With the heavy guns the top dog usually gets passed around, but the difference between top and bottom isn't nearly as large as it is with the sporters.

I have a Winchester Model 52 with a very tight aperture sight that will shoot far better than I am able to operate it. It will consistently hit a 2" swinging target at 100 yards even with me doing the shooting! No optics required.

Sorry guys, but a built rimfire benchrest gun will outshoot an anshutz, win52c, etc every time.

This is 5 shots at 50 yards from my built 40X (T36, trued action, benchmark barrel, mcmillian stock, bedded, jewel 2oz trigger, tuner) shooting Eley Match:

My wife's rifle is in the foreground: custom myers action and barrel, 2 firing pins, jewel trigger at 4oz, mcmillian stock, T36, tuner.

These are some groups I shot this morning with my Anschutz 1712. 50 yards very casually shot off the hood of my Jeep with a few bags. Mid grade ammo- SK Standard Plus, about a 5 mph variable wind. Groups measured . 345" to include the fouling group:

beautiful rifle but I do the same at 50 yards with a Mossberg 144 with peep sites with a front aperture that fits around the bull not using a gigantic hubbel space scope. that rifle I bought used for $150. two of my friends got them also. they are still around
