The last thread on the most commonly owned centerfire rifle round surprised me. I figured .223 Rem, .308 Win and .30-06 would be at the top. What surprised me was how many here own 7.62x39mm and 45/70 Gov. They surpassed the magnums. I know 9mm and .45acp will be at the top here, but Im curious what will take 3rd, 4th and even 5th. Centerfire only. Before anyone says "can't believe you forgot ____" understand polls are limited to 20.

You have 9mm Makarov, but also need to add 7.62x25 and 7.62x38R due to the proliferation of C&R eligible comm block imports.
Yep, I own both of these. I had no idea what a 7.62x38R was... but I do own a 1895 Nagant revolver in 7.62 Nagant ... one of my favorites due to its unique gas seal.

Not surprised that the 9mm and .45ACP are leading the way.
I had a thought...
I wonder how many like myself own a .375SuperMag???
Not trying to hijack the original posters poll...just curious.

Interesting how .357 magnum exceeds .38 special.
The sample is the number of TheHighRoad members who have responded so far.

And a lot of us miss the point (noted on OP#1) that the subject is centerfire rounds and that polls are limited to 20 options. So the poll is the most commonly owned of 20 common options and is not inclusive of all possible (no 4mm Lilliput?).

I answered based in the ones listed that I actually shoot. I also own .32ACP and .380ACP rounds but do not currently have handguns in those calibers, and own 7.62x25, 7,63 Mauser, and .45 AutoRim rounds and pistols.

Prolly screw up the curve as I'm only missing 5 from the list and none of them have a chance of winning lol.
Also I only get 1 vote per but have 10 45 acps and only 2 38 supers.

I own multiples of .38 Special over any other caliber I have. With .38 Special, I can collect vintage guns that are still powerful and usable weapons, and the cost isn't overwhelming and the ammo is everywhere. I also own a lot of 9mm's, too, but most aren't collector or vintage pieces, which is what I like, generally. Not surprising that .38 Special is # 3 in popularity in this poll (as of now), which is why I laugh when people call it "obsolete." :D

This one will probably take many entries to start being really accurate as many members here probably own one of each in several of the front runners such as 38, 357, 9, 45acp and possibly 40. Should be fun though

Good point.

I thought the .38 super would be doing a little better. Hmm.

I am not surprised until the results get down to the .380 Auto versus .40 S&W.

I would imagine the 380 being popular simply because it's the smallest round deemed by many as sufficient for SD and firearms small enough for pocket carry are chambered in it. Even those that choose to carry a larger round, still generally own a 380 as a BG or a deep concealment piece.

I selected the 32 S&W long even though it's actually a 327 that I own. I'll be curious to see where the 40 S&W ends up.

9MM and .357 for me.

One to carry and one to hunt. ;)

First move, EXPECTING TROUBLE, I'll take a SHOTGUN any day.

Just sayin'.

This.

Those words bolded are some quantum physics stuff right there. It's just hard to beat an old fashioned scatter gun
