Let's see what the most commonly owned rifle cartridge on THR is

I know this is not a complete list of rifle cartridges, nor is it even close, but I feel like this is at least the top percentage of commonly owned rounds.

Let's see what THR votes as most popular centerfire rifle round.

It will be interesting to see how the cartridges rank.

Missing a pile of mine, but besides the 7mm Remington and .30-06 most of what i have are less common.

Yeah there are only so many slots it will allow you to have on a poll. I expect several responses saying I'm missing a bunch of more obscure rounds but I tried to include the most common. Considering this is a poll for popularity, I don't expect many wild cats to be front runners.

Frankly, I think you left out what could be the overall winner - .22 Long Rifle. I would replace one of the more obscure rounds with that one if you want to get a true answer to your question.

I agree that would be the obvious winner, that's why I said center fire rounds in the OP

Funny thing is that I've owned, or plan on owning, a rifle in almost every caliber on that list, but at the moment I am a little light and only have 4 on the list.

Yeah, I was looking at building a AR10 long range in Creedmoor but I realized I have dies and brass for 243 after a little research I built a 24" 1 in 7 twist 243 IMHO I didn't give up a thing ballisticly

.450 bushmaster and .458 SOCOM are a lot more obscure than other calibers you could have put in there like:

.22-250
260 Rem
.35 Rem

Yeah I thought about the 22-250 but went with the popular AR platform chamberings. Mainly for my own curiosity really.

This might be relevant. The cm is nice, but still the new kid on the block, instead of chamberings, we could do one on calibers. I would still predict the .22s and 30s winning, but the 35s, 6.5s, 6s, and 7s could make a better showing.

My guess would be .22, if we were going only for centerfire then .233, with 308 next.

That said I voted 338 winmag because you didn’t have 303 British or something even more obscure these days, on your list.

Wait a minute, I am 36, and those 2 are half of the cartridges I voted for! .30/06 is my favorite rifle cartridge ever. Of course, if you are only as old as you feel, maybe I am a geezer...
