Most Dangerous Cities.

From Orlando here. Moved to the Tampa area for a semester and (unfortunately) I am moving back to Orlando in a couple months. BAck to the supposed tenth most dangerous city!

:eek:I'm going to Orlando next Tuesday:eek:

Flint, Mich.

Rankings in Crime
Assault: 1
Murder: 3
Rape: 1
Motor Vehicle Theft: 28
Robbery: 35
Burglary: 2

Oh yeah, this is far worse than NYC, LA, Chicago, Washington DC, which aren't on the list. The city I live near (Rochester) has a higher rate of murder, robberies and rapes than most of those on the list.

Stupid List!

The CQ Press has reased another "Most Dangerous Cities" list. Fellow New Jerseyans will be surprised to see that Camden has dropped to a lowly fifth place.

I demand a recount!

And here is the list of safest states.

Funny how the vast majority of them have the most relaxed gun-laws in the US. Must be a coincidence.

I do not believe in political correctness, but I will still preface my comment so as to not be misunderstood.
While I agree that gun laws, or more accurately lack there of, play a role in crime rates, there are more tangible reasons. Cultural differences and associated poverty play a very large role. The states that are the most crime free do not have large populations of minorities and are more culturally cohesive. Like wise, the multi ethnic and/or poorer states have corresponding crime problems. Some might consider such comments un PC, but the common denominator is backed up be demographics. This is one of the reasons liberal gun grabbers cannot use comparative analogies with countries like Japan when trying to show low murder rates and gun violence.

So while I agree with your point regarding gun ownership and crime, it is but one component in a complex problem that has larger socio-economic factors.

That report is so stupidly flawed. For example, all crimes are given equal weight which means that car theft carries as many points as murder and burglary as many as rape. So it has nothing to do with "dangerous."

And there is no division in assault which means that shooting somebody a bird or shaking your fist at them or even telling some jerk that you are going to kick his arse are all as heinous as beating someone with a baseball bat, pistol whipping them or even attacking them with a knife.

The three most dangerous states are Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico...are you kidding me?

I love small town America, I don't recall the last murder, or rape in this town for that matter.
Last town I lived outside of we didn't have a murder in the dozen or so years I lived there, been here 6 or 7, none yet I can recall. Prolly just my forgetfulness and I did work out of state several months a year the first few.

Some idiot did spray paint on a wall around the block awhile back but it got covered pretty quick. We do have a meth head or two like I guess everywhere has.

Sure glad so many folks like to live in cities an high populated area's, so our small towns can hopefully stay like this.

Silly me, I thought Massachusetts was in New England....

Grrr, I thought of that after I posted but was away from a computer. I guess Boston pushes Mass out of that. Funny though, Boston doesn't show up on the dangerous city list.

Yeah, good 'ol SC isn't as safe as I had thought. That's assuming I believe the list... which I don't.

But they were spot on with North Charleston. I've seen some ghettos in my day, but never such an open-air crack cocaine market. They delt drugs with impunity there, like kids selling lemonade by the side of the road.

Sounds just like North Philly. I've seen the crack dealers selling on one corner, while their buddies are being busted on the next corner, a block away. They don't even move unless the cops start coming toward them.
