"Most displeased with gun" part 2

Most disliked, Winchester Ranger shotgun.

Most liked is a tough call:
Revolver Ruger Alaskan
Semi hand gun: XD-40 subcompact
Bolt Action: Savage 10 Carbine
Semi Rifle: Ruger 10/22

I'm a little stunned at peoples dislike of the 10/22. Mine (2 of them) are tack drivers and very reliable. I'm not sure if it has to do with them being 1980's manufacture but I would say you guys are in the vast minority on disliking the 10/22. I wish I could help you out because I just love mine to death.

Displeased: Bersa Thunder. Complete garbage. Heavy. Poor fit & finish, broke twice.

Most pleased: CPO Sig P226 in 9mm. Uber-reliable and freakishly accurate. Large magazine capacity to boot. My 'semi-custom' Colt Combat Commander now takes a back seat to that Sig...

Worst:

Toss up between Jennings .380, Llama .45, & Hi Point .45

Best: Really too many...but Honorable Mentions are:

S&W 39-2
S&W 29
S&W 36
S&W 625
Taurus .41 Mag Tracker 4"
Taurus 66 .357
Taurus 669 .357
Taurus PT58
Taurus 92AFS
Beretta 92FS
Colt 1911
....

This could just go On & On .......... :D

Wait, People clean .22s?

Most displeased gun in my eyes would be my Remington 597 22lr. The one parts on it that haven't given me problems is the barrel and stock. And Remington repair is worthless. Had a round fail to extract and didn't notice it, it blew a nice chunk out of the bolt and destroyed a guide rod spring. 3 months later I got it back and all they did was replace the spring, and left the bolt with a gaping hole in it.

most displeased - Ruger LCP (trigger and jams)
2nd most Kahr CW9 (trigger and no slingshot load)

most pleased - Beretta 96 w/expensive trigger job
2nd most - Tie between my CZ-75 (only con - rough DA trigger (not that it gets used) and the taurus 66 Nice trigger all the way around after a few rounds.

Unhappy with:

Glock 17 - reliable, sturdy and smoothly functioning, but it doesn't "feel right"
I don't get the accuracy out of it that I do with a borrowed 1911.
(Kimber Stainless II on the way as soon as my "paperwork" comes in)
Chiappa .22 1911 - jamomatic, feels cheaply made
P-64 - handsome reliable potent pistol that seems determined to wear
out a patch of skin over my base thumb knuckle.
Auto-Ordnance .30 carbine - technically a fun gun to shoot and certainly has power
to spare. But compared to real GI carbines, doesn't feel nearly as well put together.

Never owned one, but I don't like the Sig pistols I've borrowed from other people
at the range. They feel clunky, and I don't wanna play "guess the lever"
during a firefight. Glock and even 1911 ergonomics make more sense.

Happy with: Just about everything else in my collection - Tokarev, Savage .22 boltie, Remington Scoremaster, GSG AK .22, Ruger 10/22, etc. Especially pleased with the Ruger 6" GP100, a Rossi .45 Long Colt lever action, and my new Marlin .357 1894c.
Oh, and my M1 Garand and Maadi AK.

In fact the guns in my life have, in general, been far more reliable and satisfying than the women in my life...

Most Displeased: Detonics Mk I .45 - great concealability, but couldn't get a group smaller than 6" at 15 feet...

Most Pleased: Colt Combat Commander .45 - had it for 30 years and still shoots tight groups...

Most Displeased with Gun I owned

A Taurus PT-22- nice looking Beretta clone, but it had a terrible gritty trigger, jammed frequently and fell apart on me at the range on one of its first trips. I sold it for a loss to a pawn shop.

Most Pleased with Gun I own

My Smith and Wesson M&P 40 full size, it is pretty accurate and very reliable. I love how if feels in my hand, and I actually like its trigger.

I honestly can't say I'm displeased with any firearm I own. Well not yet at least. I enjoy shooting them all, and haven't had any real issues.

Most pleased with?

My Marlin 60. Inexpensive. Inexpensive to shoot. Accurate as heck. Now I am not much of a shot, but you really don't have to be with this thing. I aim where I want to shoot, and pull the trigger, and a nice little hole appears where I thought it should. It functions great too. There isn't much to complain about. The fact that it is the cheapest to shoot of all the firearms I own isn't the only reason I shoot it the most either.

Dis: Taurus Tracker .44 Mag had two flaws out of the box that a warranty 'smith had to fix before I took it to Alaska interior. Cylinder locks up too and could have gotten us killed it turned out. "Friends don't let friends buy Taurus."

Pleased: Today? Hatfield .50 flintlock. Nicer in many respects, including the subtle red-hued stain, than the custom TVM Early Virginia Matt Avance used better-but-not-super-premium wood (despite the surcharge) for and "accidently" stained two shades darker than requested (especially the back which is another shade darker still!). Today, Pedersoli beautifully adopted the Hatfields as the 38-1/2" barreled 1760-1840 "Frontier" and I'd definitely look there before TVM, my love-hate relationship gun.

Boy, that is really a toss-up for me!
I really like each gun I own, in fact I think I would have to say I like each one EQUALLY.

I really cannot pick any one gun and say that gun I like the most or the best!:scrutiny:

I also had that KelTech when they came out, it was a stamped-out piece of sheet metal junk.

Am I the only one who likes his P22?

Anyway, worst - A Mas 49/56 converted to .308 by century. Sold it for a loss and was happy. Fired a couple times without jamming. Maybe. I would like to find one of those rifles in the original caliber if I ever take up reloading.

Best - I love my Glock 19. Quite please with my M&P9, too, but it is still new and I am more familiar with the 19. It's my CCW.

Oh the two guns I disliked the most were a Helwan 9mm (Beretta knockoff) it was a piece of CRAP that stovepiped everyother shot. And the everyother shot of that it double fed. Recoil spring was not even a spring for a gun, magazine never really fit right, and the rear sights were incorrect for the dovetail. The other one was an XD 9mm. Just weird and didn't really like the flip on it. Maybe just me seeing as they're selling tons.

Most happy with is first and foremost my 1895 and my 629. Love them, good guns. Then everything else I own.

Most displeased was semiautp .22 made to look similar to an assault rifle, wood stock. I just forget what it was.

Most pleased, Ruger GP100 or Ruger Blackhawk, I'm pleased as punch with both of those.

Bolt: Due to the iron sights, the Yugo Mauser 48A.
Semi-auto: the Auto Ordnance M-1 Carbine. Bought it brand-new late in '07, but after about two months of tender treatment (no drops, hard knocks or dirt inside) the bolt came somehow out of the track and was jammed tight. The factory repair was free. The bolt never felt as rugged/solid as those in the authentic Carbines.

Most pleased: the 'service grade' Garand from the CMP last summer.

"the most "displeased with" gun you have owned...",

A year ago, this month, I bought a BRAND NEW Taurus 941 SS .22 mag.
What a POS! :cuss:
It went back to Taurus with a letter noting what was wrong. They only fixed 1/2 of the problems and sent it back after 5 weeks!:banghead:

The hell with Taurus, never again.:fire:

Most displeased handgun: Glock 21, and I know it was me. I just could not get used to shooting it at all.

Most pleased handgun: S&W 681 stainless steel 4" barrel revolver. I shoot tacks with it. My Kimber Pro Carry is a close second.

Most displeased rifle: T/C Encore 30-06. It turns out it is just to short for me, I'm 6'6", and I got a nice scar on my nose thanks to scope bite. I still have the encore with a 50 cal muzzleloader with open sights and love it though.

Most pleased rifle: At tie between my Weatherby in .270, my best deer rifle, my T/C 50 cal muzzleloader, and my WAST 10-63. That thing eats everything I've fed it and holds a nice grouping.

Most displeased was a Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm combo.

On cylinder of the .357 cylinder was off. I could put the weapon is a Ranson Rest, fire 6 rounds, 5 would be touching and the other would be 2" high left.

We marked the cylinder and it was the same with every load both in .38 & .357.

As you would expect the 9mm was not accurate at all.

This was in 1982 or 83. I sold it and never regretted it at all.

I replaced it with a Smith 686 and have shot thousands of very satisfied rounds.

OTOH I own a Security Six, a Mark II, a 10/22 & a LCP that are awesome firearms.

It must have been made on a Monday!

Most Displeased with:

A tie between an H&R Ultra Varmint Thumbhole in .243 and a Rossi .357 revolver (forget the model). The former had a super heavy trigger (in excess of 12#) and didn't reliably ignite ammo (about 1 in 3). Two trips to the factory did nothing for it. The Rossi wouldn't stop having the cylinder bind.

Most Pleased with:

CZ-452 American in .17 HMR with a Leupold 2-7 power rimfire scope. Fits me perfect, shoots better than I do and has been the bane of groundhogs and turkeys all over.

Most displeased: Sig Mosquito .22 pistol. Has a FTF or FTE about once per magazine, with every ammo I've tried. Terrible trigger pull even in SA (in my opinion). Can't complain much since the gun was given to me (dad bought 3 sequential serial numbers).

Most favorite: first-gen Kimber Eclipse 5" 1911. More accurate than I am, awesome build quality, and one of my only guns that has never experienced a failure.

Most displeased: a Bernadelli 380 I briefly had. Couldn't get through a full mag w/o a jam. Not good for a carry gun.

Most pleased: A toss-up between my 4" M19-3 with an action smoothing, and my Springer 1911 I bought (lightly) used recently. So far the Springer has run flawlessly.
