Okay, here's mine. When I was a new shooter I had an older friend (the guy was in his 60's and I was 19) that showed me his single action revolver. He quickly flipped open the gate, went to half cock, and checked the cylinder for empty. He handed it back with the loading gate closed. I knew it was proper etiquette to check the weapon yourself, so I opened the gate and tried to turn the cylinder. Of course, it wouldn't move because I hadn't noticed that you had to go to half cock. I just stood there looking at it like a dummy. I couldn't ask for help. I was a teenager, and therefore knew how to do everything. After what seemed like a nervous eternity I handed it back. I looked up at his face and we both broke out laughing at the same time.
You know, come to think of it I always had more old friends as a kid than other kids my age. Strange.
