western ar , eastern ok , southern mo,great fishing hunting and a booming economy and three good football programs..... need i say more

Avoid Colorado, it sucks. I suggest TX or FL.

Don't come to Texas! All of us native Texans are humorless, beer swilling, pickup truck driving rednecks. Sharing the state with us are multitudes of humorless, beer swilling, pickup truck driving illegal aliens and beer swilling, humorless, SUV driving yankees. It's swelteringly hot all the time, so much so that Gen. Sherman once remarked, "If I owned both Texas and Hell, I'd rent out Texas and live in Hell."

Go to Florida, that state is perfect for you.

Can't really recommend WA state too much, unless you don't mind having literally 0 chance at owning a can or MG, with no appeals process.

Also, we're a blue state, which is fine with me, except that our rights are CONSTANTLY under attack. We also have kind of crappy (in my experience) gunshows).

Western PA sounds good though, i have to look into that. I too have been looking for a place to migrate. This has been an educational thread for me! I just am not looking for ocean and DEFINATELY not looking for hot weather.

Arkansas, the natural state. Hiking, fishing, boating, spelunking, hunting of just about every kind. Gun friendly as it gets, plenty of good places to shoot private and public. I live about 30 minutes away from one of the gun ranges that the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission runs. $3 and shoot all day! Now THERE'S your tax dollars at work. :)

Where are all of the recomendations for Illanoy?

We have Crook county politics, Daley, Blowjobovitch, Sufredin, Fr. Snuffy, Jesse and all of the bans that D.C. has as well as more on the way!:banghead::cuss:

Darn, I forgot why I moved here.:(

Bob:D

I moved to Texas from California somewhat reluctently, but now that I am here and lived what I have been missing I won't go back to California to live. There are some really nice parts of Texas. Lots of water in north and east Texas. We also have the gulf down south. If the desert is for you then west Texas is pretty nice also. Over all it was the best move I have ever made.

I vote Maine (yeah I live here so am a little biased) . Gun laws? Practically non existent . Can have all the toys , like things with the fun switch and silencers . :D Fishing is great , and Maine is more than 90% woods . Nice coastline with some excellent ocean fishing .

A resident Utah CCW is honored in 37 states last I counted. Utah allows carry in ALL schools, K-phd. My hometown actually has a mandatory firearms ownership law. For any other state claiming to be gun friendly, ask if you can carry in bars, restaurants, etc.

Google photos of Canyonlands, Arches, Lake Powell, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Snow Canyon, Red Cliffs, San Rafael Swell, Goblin Valley, Moab jeep trails, the High Uintas, Mount Timpanogos, and Monument Valley. That about sums it up for beauty. And remember that Lake Powell alone has more shoreline than the U.S. west coast. (Not bad for being the second most arid state in America.)

And out in the stretches of desert that aren't pretty enough to be state parks, national parks, or monuments of some flavor or other, you can shoot as much as you want to.

I am currently in California on military orders. When I drive home in July, I will strap on my .45 as soon as I pass through Truckee Pass, since Nevada now honors my Utah permit. (As far as I know, Utah is the only out of state permit honored in Nevada.)

Maine used to be a great place, but now it's turned into north Massachusetts. We have friendly gun laws, but that will change, we've got a heavy concentration of libs in the state legislature.

Hate to disagree , but every anti gun measure brought before the house last session failed . And this session there is exactly .... ZERO anti gun legislation . Matter of fact , we have GAINED in respect to gun laws . Agreements are being hammered out for reciprocity with other states . Something we've never had .

Somewhere in Alaska, I'm from Fairbanks but the southern areas are warmer.

Montana, Wyoming and Idaho are all very gun friendly and each have pretty areas. In my experience Idaho is a little more scenic than Wyoming.

California's never hack it in Alaska, except maybe in Anchorage (Anchorage only sort of counts as Alaska btw).

Also, those people recommending "temperate Southeast Alaska" have obviously spent little or no time here. In Oregon Californians whine about the rain. In the Willamette Valley (rainiest part of Oregon?) they get less than 40inchs a year. In Southeast Alaska somewhere between 100-200 inches a year depending on location. Rain forest baby.

Californians often try to move into Southeast but their houses are back on the market within three years, save yourself the expense and just take a summer cruise; then move to Florida.

SHHHHHHHH !! We've got enough out-a-statahs movin' up heah, don't be encouragin' 'em.

After reading Montana's Secretary of State's brief today, I'm going to have to go with Montana. Nobody in Florida would ever file something like that. Hell, we don't even have open carry here.

living

well, I know Maine is colder than a deep freeze in winter, Montana has no significant work opportunities, Illannoy is gun unfriendly, in ND the wind blows all the time (till the sun sets), WA is nice but as a previous poster says gun rights are under attack all the time and it is one of the most expensive States to live in (day to day expenses), Oregon is full of ingrates who don't like outsiders, PA has too many gun laws. Virginia has its own culture and I think it'd be hard to fit in. That's all personal experience but I appreciate the comments about other States. I'd like to get out of WA.

True, but the man would freeze to death in MT and OC is not one of his priorities.
Beaches and babes are his thingees.I love the MT gun rights attitude to death, but this spoiled beach bum(me and him)would never last there.
Would you Guitar(Floridian)god?-30 in Kalispell on a good day in January. My best friend tried it for one winter.
He is now back in Fort Liquordale where he belongs.Bahia Mar near Travis McGee.

Dude, Tx is the place to be. Good gun laws and you can own anything you want. Beaches are all over the place on the Gulf coast. It is a little hotter than in Cali but it is not bad at all once you get used to it and think about it. You will never have to put up with the people that you would run into every day in Cali. Alaska has been very nice and Montana was extremely fun but it is pretty cold there during the winters. Utah is also extremely nice and has good gun laws for now but it is very easy access for Californians though. Tx is the place to be. RG

Minnesota has plenty of woods and we have over 10,000 lakes so plenty of fishing to be done here. Gun laws are pretty good. Not the best state for gun laws but easily not the worst. Beautiful state but we do have very hot and humid summers and extremely cold winters. but I love it here.

Colorado does suck. This is what I have to deal with EVERY DAY on campus, stuck in the city with nowhere to go.

But seriously, legal open-carry without permit, one of the best firearms training facilities in the world, crystal clear mountain-top lakes, and 10-foot-wide streams running down mountains to flyfish. It makes it more fun when you can just stand there in the stream and WATCH the trout go "Nah, not fooled... Try another pass..."

Those bastards have really good vision! :D

Well, I think that about covers it. It seems that just about every state is the most beautiful and gun friendly except CA,NY,NJ,IL,HI. :D So, take your pick.

Florida is great for guns. But the beauty has been sold off and converted to strip malls and apartment buildings. When I moved here 28 years ago, I could walk to the end of my street and shoot. I have driven many miles into the "country", only to have the cops show up and threaten me with "armed tresspass" if I didn't quit shooting and go home. Try North Dakota. Joe

Wyoming....

Very gun friendly
Balmy weather year 'round
Inexpensive beach front property

Ok, so I lied. One out of three ain't bad. :D

I love the Florida Panhandle. We have some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world. There are three major military bases within a 60 mile radius of me, (Pensacola Naval Air Station; Eglin AFB; and Tyndall AFB; plus Hurlburt Field which is home to Spec Op Command). The population tends to be a little more conservative and gun friendly here.

It can be hot and humid here. But I've become acclimated to it and am not bothered by that at all now. And there is the occasional hurricane. But unlike earthquakes there is a three or four day notice and you can get out of Dodge if you feel threatened.
