Departed with the jammomatic M&P. Under a limit of $1,000 what would be the most proven and reliable 9mm for carry?

I want the most reliable 9mm I can get. I hope not to be disappointed.

My Ruger P89 never had a single problem in over 4,000 rounds

I have had many 9mm's but now only have 3, I carry a Walther P99C mostly and a full size P99 ocassionally. Both P99's use the same 15 and 16 round mags and have been very reliable.

The glock and M&P have compact models as well, however, I live in Mass and those guns new, must have a 10 lb. trigger which makes a good gun suck, I mean really suck.

Good luck, so many to choose from

I too have a Kahr, but it is a mk9. I have put 300 rounds through it and had 0 malfunctions, It is my EDC. I also recently got a CZ p-01. Awesome shooter, in fact the best I have ever shot.....a little bigger then the kahr but in a custom rig it will be perfect!

My 9's are on the Right!

I agree. The P series by Ruger are overlooked. They are not exciting pistols but are reliable and are not picky about ammo. Ruger is a fine company and backs their products. And of course are American Made and other than Smith and Wesson has been making guns in America a long time. I like buying from a company that has some history that is a American company.

Thanks,

I currently have 3 9mms: PT-99, S&W 908, and a Luger. The PT-99 has swallowed every jacketed load it has been fed for 20+ years with no failures of any sort. Lead reloads are o.k. as long as they are loaded properly (OAL, taper crimp etc), but sloppy ones can hang up. In the 908 I use only jacketed, and it has never had a failure to feed/extract/eject. This is my experience only, and no in-depth torture test.

There are plenty:

Of course: HK P7 and the Browning Hi Power
Then:

Sig 239
Sig 229
CZ-75 PCR
Glock 19
Glock 26
Smith M&P 9c
Taurus PT111
Beretta Anything
HK Anything

Beretta 92 F

There are lots of excellent 9mm's out there.

I'd suggest you beg / borrow and rent as many guns as you can to try them out..

They are shoot differently.

:)

My agency used Glock 19s and Glock 26s.

20 guys on the line for annual requal and no problems shooting 100 rounds each for many years.

I kept my Glock 26 when I retired and feel it's reliable enough to protect my family.

I like my cZ 75s. The only problems I have had were with one batch of Brown Bear and a couple of handloads. After them comes the Bersa Thunder 9.

Find a browning hi-power in excellent condition or maybe a taurus 24/7. You could even go with a carry type 1911 in 9mm.

In my experiance, which of course is dwarfed by some, I would choose what I have, CZ P01 and CZ PCR, haveing fired many of the 9mm pistols available. But, that is MY opinion, and my experiance.

Course I can't let an opportunity go by... :)
