I have owned the following 9mm's that have been 100% flawless

Ruger P95
Berreta 92 FS
S&W M&P
CZ-75b omega
CZ-75B SA

I just have to throw this one in...I have and carry (not as often as I used to) a Firestar M43 that I bought new in 1992. It has yet to fail.

I like my MP compact 9mm. Feel really comfortable in my hand is a nice size for concealed carry.

Glock or H&K USP Tied for 1st choice. There are many 2nd choices.

So the Glock 19 is the gold standard?

Have the Gen4 Glock 19 hit the shelves yet?

I just want to hear your experience with the M&P and why/how it was jamming. I would send the pistol back to smith and at least get it reliable even if you don't keep it.

I, also, have to back up Glock and Beretta. And, of course, if you've got the money, you can NEVER go wrong with Sig. My Beretta has a few thousand rounds through it and not a single hiccup. The Glock I own is in .40 s&w, but Glocks have always been reputable for their reliability, and I can attest to that personally as my Glock has a few thousand rounds through her as well. I've only had one jam with my Glock, and that was when a buddy's girlfriend had a low grip and limp-wristed it. Another over-looked firearm is the EAA witness. I have an Elite Match in .45, which isn't meant to be a carry gun, but their compact and polymer models are great carry guns, and are reputably reliable as well.

Glock!!!

Wow, there are actually a couple votes for Kel-tec. Roll of the dice with that brand. I lucked out with a good one. My brother, not so much.

Departed with the jammomatic M&P

Well, since you departed with a gun that plenty of people don't have an issue with, you should have learned the lesson that your problem wasn't with the brand, but with the example. Find a gun you like to shoot, and make it work or find one that will. If jamming was the only reason you didn't like it, that is what the warranty is for.

Every gun proposed to solve your solution today has a former owner of one somewhere who thought it was a piece of junk.

As mentioned before, you didn't need a thread asking for a new gun, you needed a shipping label from S&W for a trip back for repair.

There is a reason why the issue was happening, and it wasn't the brand name on the side of the gun. You don't get that popular by producing a pistol that can't run.

FNP-9: Mine's digested about 3,000 rounds of whatever 9mm was on hand with only one hang-up and that was due to a bad round. It has a very smooth DA trigger pull, shoots like a dream, fits the hand with interchangeable backstraps, tears down easily for cleaning and comes with three magazines.

Beretta PX4 Storm, Beretta 92F: Own the PX4, have shot the 92. Also have a Beretta 84FS Cheetah, one of the very best .380s available.

SIG P226 or SIG 2022: I have fired both and have friends in the Texas DPS who are issued the P226 in .357 SIG. Without exception, they really like the SIG.

Browning High-Power: Still the cream of SA 9mm pistols. About the only version I haven't owned is the engraved Renaissance edition. It's a sweet shooter, reliable, easy to tear down and easy to conceal.

Stoeger Cougar: This is the Beretta Cougar that was widely praised for everything except the price. Beretta moved the tooling to its plant in Turkey and now even the price is good.

From my experience, Glock. I have the most confidence in their durability and reliablility. My carry gun is either a G26 or G19.

I've recently bought a Beretta PX4 Storm and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

I'm taking it to the range again today.

And of course as always the proven in combat Beretta 92F.

Me, too. The M&P is normally a reliable design and S&W has great customer service.

The M&P jammed several times with different mags with excellent care. There is a consistency of malfunctions across different magazines. Using the same care and ammunition, my Beretta PX4 has been crushingly superior and flawless.

I'm starting to not bother with anything beyond Glock and Beretta when it comes to reliability. The M&P has a good trigger and grip, but fails in the most important respect.

A glock 9mm - possible exception of 36 which some have had ejection problems with - including mine under warranty - though now fine with Colt's fix.

Buy a gun from any name-brand, decent quality company and shoot it.

All guns will malfunction. Every. Last. One. S&W, HK, CZ, Glock, etc are all about on the same level relatively.

Buy a gun you feel good about. What feels best? What can you conceal with confidence? Shoot accurately? Clean thoroughly?

Base your choice on these, instead of internet rumor round counts.
