That's right!! I'm not talking about a cool gun itself as many posts cover them but any handgun you've seen with gizmos and Tacticool factor on it.

In my case, I visited an outdoor range few days back and I've seen a guy with glock 17 that has custom (possibly glock works) slide, red dots sight and a suppressor. It made him look like some sorta operator... With that being said, what's your experience?

can't really say I've seen much "Tacticool" stuff round here, closest I've seen would be either when i mounted a light on my sig to see how the weight was, or the guy who was packing 2 .44mag deasert eagles each with a red dot.... think he said he used em' for deer.

I sometimes slap a handgun bayonet on my PT911. But that doesn't quite enter the realm of truly tacticool. 8(

Probably one of the most Tactical pistols I ever saw was the 1911 I was issued by the Army in 1968.

It for a fact had fought in three wars by the time I got it.

Course, it didn't have all those Tackycool do-dads.
But then again, it faught & survived three wars, so I guess it was Tackycool enough to Get-R-Done.

Optics on pistols make me smile. =D

Especially the telescopes some people use.

^^^^ AAAHHHH!!! I was just recuperating from seeing this one in that other thread. I'M BLIND AGAIN!!! It's so bright I gotta wear shades. But, again, I do like it!!:)

I'd rather something like this, though I think I'd go red dot rather than scope. Pic was from the S&W web page a couple years back, I had it as my computer wallpaper for awhile.

Well, my "real guns" are stock for CCW which they are used for! My 22 on the other hand, well it's for fun...

Summer of 1991, on board USS RANGER CV-61 steaming home from Gulf War 1... (I was a guest)

US Marine MARDET Officer of the Day. Packing a well worn USGI Colt 1911A1 in a shoulder hoster cocked and locked.

I've seen more tricked out guns, but that was pretty cool.

Have yet to find or see ANY handgun with all that garbage hanging off it to call it "cool", let alone "tacticool". Laughable, yes. Silly, yes. Cool...never. You hang stuff from a clothesline not a gun.

Obviously airsoft stuff, but rather "Tacticool" nonetheless.

While I generally reject the t-word, there was a time, back in the 1980's, when I was very much into trendy, modern weapons. My first handgun was a Detonics Combat Master, of all things. From reading things by Col. Jeff Cooper, Mas Ayoob, Leroy Thompson, and some other authors, and listening to a local guy, the 1911 had become, in my eyes, THE handgun. Detonics seemed to be the most modern and forward-thinking 1911 manufacturer of the moment, though to be clear, only Leroy Thompson, of the listed authors, recommended them.

In hindsight, the Detonics purchase was a mistake; they never did get their small guns' reliability act together. I do still believe a good full-sized 1911 to be a wonderful battle pistol, second to no subsequent design, though demanding of its owner.

As for modern custom features, I would like to try an Aimpoint Micro T-1 mounted on a handgun, in the not-so-distant future. My hobby of photography has led me to some camera bags that would accommodate a nice camera, plus a pistol with optic. My aging eyes LOVE the T-1, eyeglasses in place or not, and I don't see why long guns should have all the goodies.

To be clear, if I am toting a pistol off-body, I virtually always wear a substantial weapon on my person, too.
