Most Underused Cartridge In Modern Rifles?

I will third the vote for the 284 Winchester. Great short action caliber. I have one and would like a couple more.

Most under used, hmmmm?

I would say the .35 Rem is one of them also. I only know of one rifle still produced in .35 Rem, the Marlin 336. A terrific brush cartridge!

Anyone know of other rifles using this caliber being manufactured today?

Marshall :)

Of course, with a tubular mag, you could only use round nosed bullets...

Not in 54R but EAA imports a rifle/shotgun combo in 7.62x39 and 12 gauge. Never handled any of their combo guns but their O/U shotguns are very impressive for the price.

Have to go with the 8mm Mauser too. I have a bunch of the Yugo surplus stuff with the 196 grain bullet and it shoots very well.

But, I sure wish an American company would load a heavy bullet, to Euro specs, that was non-corrosive.

Another vote for the 284 Winny. I have a model 100 that is stuck closed and needs a good smith to fix it. Suggestions welcomed.

I thought of another one that is one of the best cartriges ever produced the 256 newton. Big enough case capsity for great velocoty but not soo much you blow powder all over(over bore)
for a varmint to elk gun it would be tops!

The most underused cartridge in modern rifles is the 6.5x55 Swedish, IMHO. It's an excellent round, flat shooting, very accurate, low recoiling, and with killing power totally out of proportion to its ballistics on paper.

Most under appreciated, my entire big game battery:

7x57

300 H&H

.458 Winchester Magnum

Oh well they still seem to work....
