Although I have been at this gun stuff for a long time I have never owned a so-called mouse gun. Never felt the urge/need to have one. But, after reading so many posts about "mouseguns" I must admit to a certain amount of curiousity. Having said that, what, in your opinion, is the absolutely best mousegun out there. How come? Do your darndest I am eager to learn. Good shooting;)

The best mouseguns out there, IMHO, are the Beretta Jetfire and the Kel-Tec P32.

The Jetfire has a well-deserved reputation for total reliability, and it's a very elegant design. The tip-up barrel is a stroke of genius.

The P32 is the thinnest and lightest mousegun on the market, and the smallest locked-breech pistol ever made. Recoil is a lot more tolerable than with all the other .32ACP "blowback" mouseguns. It packs a good punch for something only marginally bigger than a credit card.

Another vote for the JetFire and P-32. I have both; the P-32 is so easy to carry; the Jetfire feels sweeter when you shoot it.

BUT!
The new King of Mouses will probably be the Kel-Tec P-3AT after it hits the market in May. Just a hair bigger than the P-32 but in .380 cal.

Check it out:

I held both the P-32 and the P-3AT in my hands at the SHOT show and layed them side by side, top to bottom, and every which way. If there is a size difference, you'd need a micronometer to tell.

Mighty Mouse

For front pocket, any day, any way, pack it and rack it carry, a Kel-Tec P32 is hard to beat. Why? .32 cal, 6.6oz, cost around $200 and forget about it.
A close second, but substantially heavier at 20 oz. is the Bersa 380. Man, for ~$200 you would never expect to get such a sah-mooth shooting little gun. I was just blown away by the out of the box accuracy. It has features that you just don't expect to find on a little gun from Argentina: decocker/safety, combat trigger gaurd, beaver tail grip, a very decent DA/SA trigger, decent sights, finger rest on mag, take down lever, it's just amazing. With the single stack mag and slim body it can hid pretty good as well but you need a big cargo pocket, bag, purse, etc. So maybe not a mouse gun, perhaps a rat.:D

Waiting to see what the Kel-Tec P-3AT does. It has the potential to be No. 1 with 380, 7.6oz, ~$200, but performance and time will tell.

My favorite mouse gun so far is the NAA Guardian .32. I love its workmanship and solid feel. It is also substantially heavier than the P32 but I've never found it to be a problem.

My vote has to be for the Colt Mustang Pocketlite in .380. Locked breech design gives less felt recoil than blowback and its controls are just like the 1911.

TX rat gun

Thanks Blackhawk! I've enjoyed reading and learning while lurking around and thought it was about time I got on "The High Road".

Here's a scan of my TX rat gun.

dairycreek,

For me I really like the Kel-tech P32. It is very light, slim and small, very easy to carry as a mouse gun or BUG. Before I discovered the Kel-Tech, I carried a AMT single action 380 for years. I have always had good luck with that gun.

Blackhawk,

Cool 9mm. I really like the looks of that gun.

I like the Beretta Tomcat. But, last year when I was in the market, I found a lot of reports of frames cracking, so I bought the Jetfire instead. As I understand it, that problem has been fixed, so I'm back onboard the Tomcat bandwagon :)

I like the P-32 and Jetfire too.

Here's another neat little mousegun. I wouldn't carry this one, but it's fun to shoot.

Astra CUB .25

I am really thankful..............

to those who have posted, given me so much good information and with pictures no less! Keep 'em coming. Good shooting;)

That's a mighty fine looking Bersa, starliterancher! :D

What's that on the back of the trigger near the bottom, an overtravel stop?

Oh no! Eeeevil Saturday Night Specials; the kind of guns child gangbanger prefer! You need something bigger, and less concealable....

You pull out a SW 500

Even worse! The criminals future weapon of choice to use against armored police! (You reply: it ways 4lbs, is 15 inches long, and costs $1K. It's a hunting weapon.) You don't need that for Bambi! You need something smaller, less dangerous to those around you...

You take a glock 17 out of your bag....

So, the terrorist's plastic gun? Did you know that that gun can pass through metal detectors? WHAAT? It holds how many bullets? You need something.....

And the vicious cycle continues. Everything is to hot or to cold for gun grabbers. Nothing is just right, it seems.

Guardian "Back Pocket" Carry...

RJ Hedley made me a back pocket holster for my Guardian. It's much easier to carry a Guardian in a back pocket than front pocket. At least for me.

What's that on the back of the trigger

Sorry to be slow on getting back to ya Blackhawk. Had some fires to start and then put out.:D

Yes, that is an overtravel stop. Another out of the box feature I just did not expect to find. I'm tellin ya, no exaggeration, this little gun made me look like a whole lot better shooter than I am!

I used it for my CHL cert. and blew a ragged hole in center of torso. Afterwards my instructor had to shoot it and then he fell in love with it. I'm now training my wife to shoot it and after her first 20 rounds she would've qualified, no problemo.

The little red bead on the nose is a mod I adapted from "Metric", a fellow KTOGer. ;)
