I live in Texas. My question is-- what is the waiting period for picking up multiple handguns from the same FFL on a GB transfer? Is it 5 days between guns, or 8 days? I know that they are required to submit paperwork to ATF, local law etc. if I wanted to take posession of more than one handgun at the same time.

The OP is asking about the reporting requirements if one buys more than one handgun at the same dealer in less than week. Texas has no waiting periods that I am aware of. The reporting requirement is federal law in all 50 states.

I always thought it to be 5 working days, but I could be wrong. But I believe the reporting requirements only applied if you bought from the same dealer with in the specified time in order for it to be considered reportable to the the ATF, local and/or state police.

If you bought handguns from different FFL's within the course of a week. There would be no reporting requirements because it is not from the same FFL. As I understand it , it only applies to buying more than handgun from one FFL dealer in the specified period.

There is no Texas or Federal law that requires a waiting period on any firearm purchase.

If the FBI NICS background check results in a "delay", the FBI has three business days beginning the next business day to do additional research. If after the third business day the FBI has not called the dealer to deny the transaction, the dealer is allowed to complete the transfer to the customer. FBI NICS "business days" do not include weekends or holidays.

The Multiple Sale form is completed anytime a customer acquires two or more handguns from the same dealer during five consecutive business days. A dealers "business days" may include weekends or holidays.

Just went through this with my FFL I do my transfers through here in Kansas. Prior to this past week, I'd never purchased more than one hand gun within 5 business days from any FFL.

The law reads (and I assume this is federal ATF), within 5 days that the business operates, or in other words, sells guns.

For instance. If the FFL only sold guns on Saturday and Sunday, and you bought a gun on Saturday, another other pistol purchased from that same FFL on the following two Saturday and Sunday's would require a multi buy form to be filled out.

If the FFL, such as mine, regularly does transfers 7 days a week, then any purchased within 5 consecutive days must be on a multi gun form.

I was told by my FFL that he retains a copy, a copy goes to ATF and a copy goes to the local chief of police.

I had purchased one last Thursday and did the transfer. I had two more coming, I had planned to wait past the 5 days to fill out another form, but both came in the past Monday so I picked up both. All 3 pistols will be put on a multi gun purchase form.

I did this in part because 1: I REALLY wanted my guns and 2: picking both up at one time was just a single FFL transfer fee.
