Not much to it but I'm proud enough of this gun to share a picture. It's a 870 express with a choate stock, magpul forend, and a choate 5 round mag tube extension. Brings my total round capacity to 9+1. The large round capacity is what I wanted but it's made the gun really heavy, good thing I'm a big guy. I wouldn't do it again but I also won't change it. I wasn't going to get the magpul forend but after the way that magpul stood up for us in the war on the 2a, I wanted to make a purchase from them to show my support. Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture but here is my HD shotgun.

Nice set up....I have used the choate pistol grip stocks since the mid 80's, I have them on all of my tactical guns......same with their mag extensions....
and you are right about Mag pul, kudo's to them and I know the governor of my state is trying to entice them to relocate here, since they are going to be leaving Colorado.

Do you think leaving 9 rounds in the tube will wear the spring out? Wouldn't be a very good hd gun if I had a spring failure when it counted most.

Nope.

Some folks replace the spring after so many years but I just keep a spare on hand.
Btw, nice build.

The chance of complete and udder spring failure is pretty minuscule. I mean, I suppose it could get weak enough after a few decades to not feed the last couple shells but I'm sure it will stay strong enough in your life time to at least feed the next three or four even in the case of udder metal fatigue. What's the length on that gun just for sh*ts and giggles? Looks like a field length barrel on that guy. I can only imagine it's like swinging a wall stud :D which is probably no big deal if you are a big guy like me!

Overall length is 47.25". So I guess if the spring ever does fail, I can just beat the crap out of the bad guy with the gun, lol.

On a side note, I just reached milestone post 400. One more celebratory scotch for me tonight, lol.

Almost 50 inches!!! Add a bayonet for good measure and you are set! Just poking fun of course. You know there may be a niche for a ten round pump gun for guys who were looking into getting a Saiga when the banic came in and doubled their price. Solid build you have there, hope it serves you well.
