My best friend shot me in the foot!

During the winter months we do USPSA indoors. We have several metal swinging targets and it's not uncommon for the shooter or bystanders to get hit with shrapnel and richochets. I've been hit a few times, but nothing major except for once. I got a good piece of shrapnel right in my glasses right in front of my right eye. It scratched my lens pretty good. It would of been a very bad thing for my eye if I wasn't wearing eye protection.

A "FRIEND" of mine shot at a metal target with his new AR-15 from a distance of 50 feet away. It was totally unexpected when he did it. Well.......I felt something hit me on the forehead. I reached up and peeled a small piece of metal jacket from head. No damage but it was quite an education. Be careful.............:what:

Aaryq, glad to hear you can still feel your toes. Im a range member down in Iron Sights, glad to hear someone from this forum shoots there as well. Hope to see ya there sometime...I too have a Kimber 1911...but I wont shoot you :neener:

I was at a range here is Salt Lake, it was outdoors and me and two of my buddys were all shooting 45ACP. I was shooting weaver stance and as I was about to pull the trigger a chunk of lead entered my forearm directly in front of my chest. The entry wound was a gash about .5" long and the piece was in far enought to not be accesibly with my buddys Medic gear. Always travel with guys who know first aid.

Needless to say I haven't been back to that range and the Weaver stance is still my favorite. :D

I'm glad that you're okay.

I took a .22 point-blank through my foot when I was about 10. Scared me like crazy, but when I settled down a bit, it really didn't hurt too bad.

Lesson: Clear your gun before cleaning. I had, my friend hadn't. I'll never forget it.

I caught a piece of 223 jacketing in my thumb in the ROTC range at the Univ. of Akron. Still got a little scar.

I also just recently got tagged on the calf by what appeared to be an undeformed 380 FMJ. This was at my normal range. I'm pissed I didn't keep it, but some other people saw it happen. Two of them were obviously relatively new shooters and were freaking out, so I just picked it up and said "Dang, there goes my chances at the lottery." and tossed it over my shoulder into the trash. They calmed down a lot after that and started asking how common it was, etc. "Stupid rare for this kind of backstop." :) (It was granulated rubber.) Looking back, it was probably a squib that hit the rubber at paintball speed and bounced.

I was shooting a .36 caliber cap and ball pistol one day quite a few years ago and my brother-in-law wanting to shot it. I loaded it up and after he shot a couple of rounds one of them came back and hit him in the shoulder. I was shooting at a 3/4" pine board. Scared the living bejeezes out of both of us.

I was in a gun shop once when a guy was buying a 1911 and ammo. While the store owner was doing the background check, the guy loaded it, chambered a round and shot a hole in the floor! :what: I think the idiot was trying to lower the hammer to half-cock when it slipped and went off! The shop owner and I turned and stared at the guy and the owner calmly took the pistol away and explained to him that he was not supposed to load guns in the store. The store owner was really calm about the whole thing and just encouraged him to consider a different pistol.
That's about the closest call I've had.

I've been hit by my own 7.62x39 when shooting steel ~200 yards.

fire...ping...
fire...ping...
fire...ping...
fire...ping...
fire...ping...OWE! :what:

nailed me right in the forehead, between my goggles and muff headband, drawing a little blood.

i keep it and show it when i tell them i've been shot by the commie round.

I had a 44 mag slug bounce off a fridge and hit me in the hip...gently little reminder to be careful. Hit hard enough to leave a small red mark, but it was definately enough to get my attention.

I hit the same guy with not one, but two ricochets in a single Cowboy Action Shooting match. Felt real bad about it, as the second one hit him in the groin. I finish the stage and turn around to see him on his knees behind me. But he got me back. The very next stage I was at the loading table when he was shooting and one of his slugs ricocheted and bounced off my chest. I tried figuring the odds on that coincidence, but it made my head hurt... Just chalked it up to instant karma and laughed with the guy about it.

I also know someone who shot himself shooting at reactive steel too close. It actually punctured the skin and lodged, requiring a trip to the ER for removal. Why he admitted to it I have no idea, we gave him so much grief over shooting himself...

Glad you're OK, says a lot about your character....a lawyer would have sued, most women would have called it domestic abuse, and John Kerry would have gotten a purple heart.
