I had a marlin model 94 micro groove barrel .44 mag in very good condition that I have been trying to sell for a while.
A week or so ago I was talking to a retired sergeant at work and he loves lever guns and said he had a good trade for me. He said he had a tanker garand and some extra parts he would be willing to trade straight across.
I knew that the tankers had some issues but I thought for a gun to build something nice from this wouldn't be a bad trade.
So today I brought my gun into work and the gentlemen brought his item.
Lo and behold i got a little more than I bargained for.
One tanker garand built By arlington ordnance in 30-06, in pieces but in good shape.
The receiver is a springfield mid 3 million number.
The barrel is a arlington ordnance.
The bolt is a W.R.A
and The trigger assembly is a I.H.C
Now for the good part.
Also in the box was a BRAND NEW full length barrel made by S.A
A full length op rod spring.
And three nice stocks, all with inport marks.
All in all I think I came out good in the deal. I'm going to clean and lube her very well and try her out. If worse comes to worse and I can't make it work in tanker configuration, all I need to do is find a full length op rod and have that full length barrel installed and I have myself a nice garand.
I looked at the receiver and from what I can tell it does not seem to be a reweld.
Either way it will be fun to see what comes out of it. heres a pic of everything I received. Also a pic of the box it came in.
