I was shopping at the mall yesterday and went into Men's Warehouse to find some new dress slacks. (I think my gut is getting bigger). Anyway, I was talking to the gentleman about pant sizes and all of a sudden he lifts my shirt to measure my waist exposing my Kahr PM9 hanging in an OWB holster at 3 o'clock. :what: His reaction was pretty cool. He just quietly asked if I ever wore the gun IWB so that he could get the measurement right. I was impressed. There was a microsecond there where I hoped he wouldn't freak out and yell GUN!, we're under attack!

You'd be surprised

How much they actually get that.
a buddy of mine works at one and they are always discreet about it.

You gotta figure that a lot of guys go in there specifically to get fitted with their IWB. I'm sure that a lot of plainclothes cops get their suits there (considering what they pay cops) not to mention all the civilians. I'm glad they are being proffesional about it.

By the way remember this Good experience

and spread it to your friends. CCW friendly businesses are a boon to us all. Let's keep 'em in business. Thank you for posting this for those who may not have known by the way! :D

It really points out that a lot of the talk about non-gun-toting people crying gun when they see one is more the imagination of the gun carriers than the general public.

While visiting my oldest daughter in Virginia, my wife and daughter dragged me off to the Men's Warehouse to get "some decent clothes."

As the fitter was checking the trousers, I slipped my hand into the waistband and pulled it a little away from my side. She looked up and said, "Oh. You carry a gun." And went on about her business.

I have purchased a few suits that Men’s Wearhouse and they have always been cool about the fact that I needed a few extra inches in the waistband. This was in Boulder, Colorado. I’m glad to hear that others have had a similar positive experience there.

I was getting measured for a suit and had a box of Wheaties inside my waistband... The tailor lifted my shirt and said, "Oh, I though you must be carrying a Glock 21 ..."

Same here in Savannah. I was squirming a bit, trying to shop by myself, without the assistance of a salesman 'cause I was carrying. I finally gave up, took off my sportcoat, and he saw my P99 Titanium in a Fobus OWB. (I only mention the Ti because in a black holster it stands out like a sore thumb.)

No more than a casual glance, then he proceeded to bring me about 15 different sportcoats. Even offered to tailor them a little on my strong side to fall better whilst carrying.

I spent over $400.00 there that day, and I will be going back.

..Joe

PS: The "Bring it in anytime for a free pressing" is cool too!

Probably best to tell the salesperson early on, so that no one is surprised when it comes time for measurements. Also, it's nice to coordinate that stuff so they can be sure to handle things in a way that won't make it obvious to other customers that you're armed.

I've heard a couple posts about MW. I plan on bringing them some business very soon and I'm taking my holster with me :) I also need to get off my butt and finish gathering the paperwork for my FL FFL so it will matter :banghead:

What are the quality of the suits at MW? The prices look good, but how do they look and how long do they last? I know in general that there are shortcuts you can do to lower the cost of a suit, but that the tradeoff is in quality and life. Any thoughts?

Top drawer. I've bought 2 from them and I won't go anywhere else until I'm disappointed. The first has so far lasted 10 years, the second about 6. Obviously, I'm not a suit-everyday-guy.

I went to Men's Warehouse back in June to get a suit for my high school graduation. Good service... good prices... good clothes.

Sorry for the plug. I don't have much to say about carrying a gun inside the store.

Gun in Store

When carrying a Gun, with a CCW, its always best, if you know you are buying clothes or where ever a Gun may be seen is to leave it somewhere else. This is what can cause problems with the CCW law, and have people Vote against us the one that want to carry a gun, the idea of carrying a Gun concealed is to keep it concealed and know one But you should know, mistake or not its a Bad move to allow it to be seen.

I would just LOVE to see/hear one of their testimonial commercials with a gun-totin' THR member as the subject.

I just tell 'em.

"I like these two jackets and want to try them on. I carry a pistol. Will that make anyone nervous?"

I've never had a salesperson say anything but, "no problem," or the equivalent. For the sake of the other customers, I usually manage to keep the carry side toward the wall.

The fitting area of a clothing store is hardly "out in public."

If the alterations person is competent, he/she can do wonders for your concealment and one's feelings of confidence.

Best,
Johnny
