I had Left Hand Canyon to myself for 3 hours today. Mountains and guns just belong together.
I'm surprised Boulder County hasn't shut down Left Hand Canyon like they did St. Vrain Canyon in Lyons.
I used to shoot at both places.
Just be glad Dave's and Dean's have closed.
Dean's if I remember was on West Colfax and I went in once with an original Springfield Trapdoor in excellent shooting condition with a mirror bore to use as trading barter. They offered me $50 trade in value (I had paid $700 for it from Cache la Poudre Rifle Works in Ft. Collins a couple months before)
That was the first and last time I had any dealings with Dean's.
I like Ross, the guy who runs GunSport in Boulder, but his prices are a little steep.
If this is the same Ross who used to work for Bighorn Trading in Boulder he is a cool guy, Likes to BS and if his prices are high will likely be willing to dicker on the price. I don't think I ever paid sticker price at Bighorn trading especially when he was working there.
My girlfriend bought her Browning High power from Jensen's and they were very friendly and treated my son who was 6 or 7 at the time real well letting him handle a few things.. Granted I have been in Montana for 10 years now and things have changed but if I ever visit Colorado again I would certainly visit these places.
The only store in Longmont is Grampa's Pawn in Longmont... I wouldnt buy a gun there on a bet.
I made the mistake of buying new handgun there once. The extractor broke on the first magazine I fired from the gun and I tried to return it the next day. I was basically told "Tough, send it to the manufacturer for repair"
This was on a brand new (not used) High Power.
This was ONE day after I bought it. I have never had a store refuse a return after they sold me a defective gun as long as it was a reasonably recent sale.
Even Wal Mart took back a Ruger that had jamming issues with no questions asked.
They lost a LOT of business as I lived in Longmont at the time. I routinely drove to Loveland, Ft Collins or Denver to do my gun business after that.
