Almost. The standard Target Masterpiece came with a 6” barrel. Also available was the 8 3/8” barrel. But, the Dayton Distributer for S&W had a bunch of 4” Target Masterpieces built. As did some others. In Al, I believe there were three different runs of 4” Target Masterpiece Revolvers built. And, let’s not forget the very special order 5” barreled ones. That is definitely a Combat Masterpiece.
The Target Masterpiece has a 6 inch barrel, and I think the Target could be had with 8 3/8 inch barrel too, but I could be wrong.
My favorite book "The White Hunters" by Berne often quotes post turn-of-the-century professional hunters as "dispatching the beast with my medium revolver".......38spl.Nuh-uh. 38’s been gettin’ it done for a hundred and twenty years and it still will long after we’re gone.
