I'm sorry for your loss, and hope you eventually get your property back. Next time get a safe. And while you are there, please join the NRA. While some folks have their reasons for not liking NRA, they are our best bet, and all of us members are paying for and carrying the load for all of you who do not. If even one fifth of gun owners were members, just think of the political power we would have.

Overcast, They didn't much like what they heard but they said that they will let me know if they find out anything at all.
I called one local pawn shop and told them about this and the lady who answers happen to be an Ex-LEO and told me to stop what I was doing because not everyone around here isn't exactly on the up and up as she said. So it made sense to me.....What do you guys think?

Medalguy, Im sorry to hear that. I won't be suprised if I never see it again to be honest but I can hope. It was my first hand gun but know that I really know that people will do things like that for no reason, I will buy another one and I will carry where I can.

As for joining the NRA, That is on my to do list. A lot of people say a lot of things but since they stand for our gun rights I can say I think they do a better job at what needs to be done when it comes down to do with our 2A.

( Please excuse me if there is any ignorance in there at all but I am still learning alot. )

You reported it. As far as the gun goes, the job is done. Unless it has sentimental value to you, a handgun isn't worth fretting over. You're not responsible for what is done with it after it was stolen from your own home.

The deductible on home owner's insurance usually starts at around $500. So unless it was special gun, just forget about it. Save up, and buy a new one.

The guy, OTOH, has likely earned what's coming. Be patient. With this many credible witnesses, and the fact they know the guy's name, it would be surprising if the police did not pursue a search warrant. They've done similar when a friend's laptop was stolen, even though there was even less evidence. No one was home, and she left the patio door unlocked, duh. But she had a suspect, who was already suspected to LE as a drug dealer. That was enough to get a search warrant. So seems like in some jurisdictions, as long as they have a name and address and witnesses to back the story, they'll go digging for w/e they can find. Even if they don't recover your gun, they might find other stolen goods or drugs. I can't imagine there AREN'T drugs involved. There's no way an adult human being in his right mind could do this and think he can get away with it.

Gloob, That is true. Sentimental value is not really there. The only sentimental value it holds is my first handgun other than that ut was just a gun that belonged to me. I know I did the right thing and shouldn't fret over it but I guess I just have to get past it.

Gloob, I hope he does get whats coming to him. They have a suspect which was easily pointed out. They had plenty of witness and the police department did call me and tell me that i can get a search warrant if I go to court and get a hearing for it.

Lesson learned...

Here is an update, Well kinda....

I had another Detective call and ask me if my gun had found it's way back to me or if I happened to have found it which I replied No to because I haven't...

Anyway's, The Detective has told me that it will stay on GCIC until recovered but the case will not stay open for so long and if they were to find it that of course it would re open the case.

She also asked me if I had gone to get a copy of the report and went about for a search warrant which I said no to. Then she explained to me that if I did this that I can go file for a search warrant.

So, That same night I went to get a copy of the report and the next day ( today ) when to the Magistrate Court and explained to them what happened and gave the the report. The lady had explained to me that once the Judge read's it that he will either approve or deny it and I would get a call today and let me know what happened.

I did not receive a phone call from them. Maybe tomorrow? It was a bit late, I went around 1:30 or so since my lack of sleep due to this.

So Im no longer worried but now Im hoping to be honest.....Even tho I know the chances are slim to none....

I will let you know if it gets approved or denyed.

Sorry to hear about the troubles, Josh45. I hope you get an affirmative response on the search warrant and the gun is recovered soon. I appreciate you posting here as it's a reminder to the rest of us to also revisit our security and think about improvements. Good luck!

Josh45,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Just wait, this dirtbag will get his, in spades! His not returning to get his gear is proof to me that he's guilty, and he knows you know it! The Lord works in mysterious ways, you may not get the firearm returned, but somewhere down the road, this dirtbag will lie awake all night too, wondering if someone's coming after him!:what:
