Some of you may remember a thread I began just a couple of weeks ago where I complained of my Kahr E9 not feeding JHP ammo. The advice I received instructed me to contact Kahr Arms and give them an opportunity to repair the problem.

Well I just got the piece back today via overnight Fed-Ex, and I immediately disassembled the firearm to see what had been done. The invoice stated the recoil spring was too weak and the feed ramp was polished. I can hardly contain myself!!! The difference in the feed ramp is amazing. Prior to returning the gun, the feed ramp was blackened like the rest of the barrel, but had copper deposits on it left from JHP ammo jackets. The ramp is not only polished smooth, but appears to have a significantly reduced angle. I have been able to cycle through (by hand) 2 magazines of JHP without a hitch, which I havent been able to do until now. The spring was stiff before, but now reassembling the gun after a thourough cleaning is now a chore.

The work seems first rate, and I cannot wait to get this hot lottle number onto the range to test the reliability. I will let you guys know how things turn out with a range report in the next few weeks.

Thanks to all for the wise counsel! Much appreciated!

God Bless!

Who did you contact at Kahr ? I've sent them several emails, and they never reply.

Mine doesn't feed reliably when I manually cycle it.

Silver Bullet

I sent them an e-mail from their commercial website www.kahr.com. They were prompt and helpful from the get go. I guess if that doesn't work for you, you can always pick up the phone and call to

Technical Support:
TEL: 508-795-3919
EMAIL: [email protected]
Warranty Repairs, Service, Status of Repairs

I am sorry to hear you did not get a response. Based on my experience, my guess would be that there is just a glitch in the email system, and they are not ignoring you.

God Bless!

My experience is similar to The Reverends. I purchased a used early model mk9, susequently had feeding problems. I talked with Javier in the shop, he said my early mk mags with metal followers were more than likely at fault, had me send all my old mags along with the slide so he could inspect the guiderod/recoil spring. They sent me three new mags with the plastic followers, replaced my guiderod with a stainless one.......new recoil spring......NO CHARGE. I only sent in two mags and they sent back three! Excellent service, ask for Javier, he is the lead tech and customer service rep. .....tom

Javier is cool

Sent in the top half of my PM9. He sent me back a new top half that had been hand polished EVERYWHERE it needed to be. Feedramp, locking lugs etc. And, brand new night sights though the old ones were still fine. From me shipping it to getting it back was 5 days. Nothing but praise for Javier.

To all who apply:

It might be beneficial to contact Kahr's customer service and let them know how you feel of Javier's performance.
Claims to customer service of existing problems are certainly appropriate, but so are the dealings received you've evaluated as just and pleasing.

Such positive reinforcements are constructive towards the continuation of satisfactory performance.
Remember, enthusiasm is difficult to maintain in the unrewarding job.

Give them a ring and tell them what you think!

Snowdog is right on the money, we should let businesses know when their employees do well, I know they definately hear about it when someone screws up. Javier really deserves a pat on the back and I am going to let the company know that!;) .....tom

Reverend, others:

Thank you for the info. Previously I did email them at their site, but I'll try the phone number.

Any you can bet I'll ask for Javier !

This is great to hear. I recently bought a new stainless Kahr K9 to replace the blued one I sold. I was hesitant at first, because although my first K9 was a sturdy, reliable, and accurate performer, I had heard that Kahr's quality control and service had gone rapidly downhill.

The new K9 is every bit the quality of the old one, so I don't expect it to need any service. I'm glad that Kahr seems to have gotten their act back together.

My experience was not so good.

My P-9 is back from its' second trip to tech support

After the first time Javier worked on it, it was better, but casings were still sticking under the extractor.

I spent a week trying to talk to someone about returning it (again)

Left messages, emails, faxes, actually talked to two people that promised Javier(or someone) would call me.

Finally Javier calls me on a Monday afternoon ( 1 week later) late in the day...promises to have fedex pick it up.

Tells me to call him the next morning to schedule the pickup

I called the next morning to find out it was his day off!

The person that answered the phone promised to have someone call me.

I told him that was NOT an option...I had heard that one before.

Finally got it sent back..again

Will find out this week if the second trip did the trick.

I have never had this much trouble with any weapon....so I have NO idea if their service is better or worse...but fo me..it was not good.

200 more rounds...still not working...starting to not be fun!

Called this morning for a return....

Guy said they have had lots of P and PM series problems

Obiwan,

As happy as I am with my all steel Kahr K9, I wouldn't consider a polymer Kahr. I have several other polymer pistols, so it's not that I don't like plastic. It's just that I've heard a lot more about problems with those Kahrs than with the older models.

I own two Kahrs a K9 and a K40 both are all stainless and both run 100% and have for a few years and many thousands of rounds of ammo.
I love my stainless Kahrs but wouldn't own one of the polymer models. I'm not a gunsmith or an engineer so I won't pretend to know why the stainless models are so much more trouble free than the polymer versions, I just know from extensive reading and research that they are.
I also know that their "E" models are their economy models and that they don't seem to be as well finished as their other models, case in point is this thread originator's "E" model not having a polished feed ramp.
Reverand, if you remember, I responded to your original post on your Kahr "E" model problems, at that time I told you to polish the feed ramp and your problems would go away. Jed

My P-9 (after 3 trips to KAHR) is on its' way back for replacement.

I have requested a K9 or MK9 instead.

I will probably just sell it.

I have lost all respect for Kahr along with my patience

Obiwan

Sorry to hear about your continued issues with Kahr. Even the best manufacturers have quality issues. With Kahr, it seem that they are having some real problems with their polymer pistols.

I don't know that I would be so quick to throw out the baby with the bath water. If you have an opportunity to get a K9, you ought to get one. The all steel models are excellent.

Think about it, if you had a bad experience with a particular model car, would you then say all of brand "X" is bad?

Anyway, if you do sell, let me know...I will make you an offer!

God Bless

Thanks, I guess I will see how it goes.

But if I had a problem with a car...and the dealer came across like a flake

I probably would not go back.

And I have not been impressed with the service...for the most part.

Some people have tried to be helpful...but they keep dropping the ball

I just keep telling myself that I have been unlucky.

But I will have an extra $200+ in ammo, shipping and ffl fees

Can't afford too many guns like that!
