This is why you see more gated communities around all of the socialist hell holes, errr big cities. Get a fence and a gate, bring political pressure on the police to do something after all they have all that cool SWAT gear now don't they?, or move. But lets assume you want to go mano a mano with these vatos. So you get a box of large cheap knives, you jump out with your 75 round drum on your AK and hose them all. Now you have 5 low rider mobiles and 14 dead bodies. Tough to shovel all of that up. So you give each of them a big knife, and cliam self defense, no doubt they will have some other weapons as well, and this will be aok with the local prosecutor.

MS 13 wont take well to you killing all of their members, they will want you and yours dead. They wont ever forget either.

Now you have a new bigger problem, you could be subject to a random machette attack, along with the wife and kids, from some of the banger's hommies lookin to move up, or for payback.

So you will have to move and change your entire identity, and even then you wont feel safe ever.

So I would move its easier and cheaper.

Find a source for this plant: Pyracantha. It'll thrive at LEAST down to Zone 5. It ought to take over, in Kali.

Consider BRIGHT exterior floodlighting. Publicize that you have video surveillance of your property. Really install exterior cameras too. And motion detectors too.

Consider changing the lay of the land, literally, so as to prevent vehicles driving onto your property in any way other than the driveway. Then gate your drive.

Ask city council to put BIG speed bumps across your street to slow down the street racers (and bangers too).

Be sure to post your property as Private Property No Trespassing. Use English & Spanish, just to be sure.

Get a PO Box somewhere.

I cant believe it has come down to this. Telling somebody to leave their house, becuase the scum want to party there and nobody is willing to help him deal with it. I would attempt to get the cops involved, alot more than they already are. Not sure how, but there has to be a way.

Call the cops, write the cops If the police are unable or unwilling to do the job contact the newspapers, talk radio stations, TV stations - A lot of TV stations have community action programs. Contact your state legislators, city council, and mayor Get on the agenda at a city council meeting and address the council with your issues. If you've got a home owners association get involved with them. Neighborhood watch? get involved. Know your neighbors? introduce yourself.

Or of course you could just hunker down in fear or move.

Silverlance do live in an apt. ? If a bunch of cars pulled into my property I would let the police know I was calling. Do they really just pull into private property - such as single family residential homes?

I can understand not going out to face down MS13 because that just sets you up as a target. But, Big 5 put the Mossberg 590 9 shot 12 gauge on sale today for $330 the Marlin lever actions (various calibers) are $380 but I think the 12 gauge is a better choice given the area I think you are living in.

I know in the west valley the police response time is measured in days unless something very serious is happening. A screaming girl could be a life threatening crime?

Maybe if you could get upwind of them you could let loose a full large size can of pepper spray and disappear before they found out where it was coming from. Still a dangerous idea.

It's not a lack of stones. When, as another poster pointed out, one acts in self defense, oftentimes he is the one getting hassled by the cops/DA/media, etc. There isn't enough backup from sources that should be backing up law-abiding citizens.

Honestly now, you talk of cajones. Do you know much about MS-13? They are not your garden variety thugs. He could have taken out half a dozen of them and scattered the rest. Those that scattered would certainly return, and in greater numbers. Star Wars paraphrase there. Like I said earlier, you have to sleep sometime. They play dirty pool. If John Q. Citizen plays dirty pool in order to counter these turds, he'll be the one in a legal jam assuming he survives. Don't get me wrong, I believe John Q. ought to be able to go medieval on them without fear of Mike Nifong, but that isn't the world we live in. Plenty of people to thank for the sorry state of affairs we have.

Cajones are fine and dandy, but if they aren't mixed with some sense and the ability to know which battles to fight and which to avoid, they'll do you no good whatsoever.

That's what I was talking about. I wasn't calling out the OP and calling him a pansy for doing nothing. I meant that the community acting together is the only thing that will work. You can't count on the Police to fight your fights for you.

I'm really very familiar with these guys and their ilk. And, I'm not trying to be dismissive of the problem. Sorry if it came across that way.

I would also suggest a fence with a gate at the end of your drive if possible. You want these germs to move on. Throwing stink bombs and such will only present a challenge to them. I really hate to suggest the idea to you, as I've seen this type of "protection" all over SA, Colombia was the worst. I wonder how long it will be before we're talking about iron bars on all doors and windows.

I read this thread earlier in the day, and had been kind of formulating my response in my head. But then I came back tonight and read the new posts, and you guys all nailed it.

Maybe someday soon we will get some leadership that decides to declare war on gangs. At least that is one we could win, unlike the war on drugs or the war on poverty.

They would have to name some gangs by name, and say "if you claim affiliation with any of these gangs, you are an enemy of the state". And then treat them accordingly.

Will it ever happen? Probably not.

We as a people outnumber MS-13 and give authority to the likes of Mike Nifong. No government, whether a foreign paramilitary organization like MS-13 or an official one like what Mike Nifong is an official of cannot rule without the consent of the people. The issue is a lack of resolve. A collective lack of resolve from silverlance's entire community. If his community would unite, they could take care of the MS-13 problem completely. In one way or another.

They're already out here.

I live in a decidedly rural area in southeastern NC, and while I haven't seen any signs of the Maras in this AO, there are Sureno tags on road signs all over. Which misleads some people locally, because the Surenos use the number 13 a lot also, but usually in conjunction with the letters Sur. There are a few other tags around but the ones I most often see are from the Surenos.

And one last time- keep your suggestions LEGAL, PRACTICAL and HELPFUL. Or keep 'em to yourself.

This topic (like everything in S&T) is nothing to play around with, and if the nonsense keeps up some folks here are going to be looking at worse things happening to them than having their posts edited. No mod wants to have to always ride herd on threads that keep cropping out in troublesome posts, if you want to keep threads alive (and keep yourself as a member here) then keep your posts High Road, keep 'em on topic and keep 'em useful.

These groups are nothing to play with, folks. Yes, it's a darned shame that good people have to think about moving out of their own neighborhoods and not confront this kind of filth....

But, if they're already showing up in the numbers you have mentioned, you have already lost.

Some of the people who have posted here have the right idea. If you can, and as fast as is humanly possible, get out of there. Sell your home--even if you take a loss--and get your family out of there.

I do not have all the answers--but someone said earlier that these are NOT your garden variety bangers. That person is spot on. These are hardcore gangsters and killers, and will think NOTHING of making an example of you--or your family--if you cross their path. And sooner or later, you will. You don't have to do anything--just stay there long enough and you WILL be challenged.

For a couple years I kept telling myself that I'm not moving because I don't have the money. It's no longer true. As a credentialed high school teacher, I can probably teach anywhere in the country. But I like teaching here. I like to believe that if I do my job right, I might be able to prevent a lot of kids from becoming lowlifes. Not all, just enough so that the problem doesn't become a massive rolling snowball like it is in France. Don't get me wrong - I dream of my own back 40 all the time - but there is where I'm drawing my little line in the sand.

As for guns, I am pretty ridiculously well armed - but too few magazines, and almost none of them loaded! For example, I have two ARs, and yet only one loaded magazine between them. I have two benelli m1 super 90s, but neither is loaded and the ammo is on a belt hanging from the wall. and while I do keep a stevens 520 pump shotgun loaded, when you have a big crowd of fools outside that 5+1 looks pretty weak.

The thugs were hanging out my house's driveway. they were using my car and my buddy's car as beer bottle openers and as chairs. this is not the first time. they like to party hard for about an hour, enough to get all nicely drunk, then go to the nearby freeways to race.

no way in hell woudl i ever go out to tell them to get off my property. that's the police's job. but if someone came indoors, then he would become my job.

for those of you who dont understand the significance of MS13, one of my 9th graders this february, 14 year old kid, got shot in the back by MS as he was walking home. he was wearing thug clothing (when you're 14 years old you want to wear what the cool guys are wearing) and three guys from MS mistook him for somebody else who badmouthed MS. kid bled out while his mom kept screaming for her son not to die and pray to jesus. the brother had to pass around a shoebox at school to raise money for the kid's funeral.

Been there and seen that. I student taught in the inner-city of Flint and Saginaw. More than one of my former students were killed in gang crossfire.

My time in Santa Ana Unified (Santa Ana HS and Central HS) was awesome! I had so many wonderful students...yes, some were in gangs (F Troop) but not a single one ever bothered me. In fact, when I was getting ready to leave, to come back to Michigan, they actually called me to wish me well. Go figure.

Be well...and keep up the good work with the kids. Hopefully the students whose lives you have influenced will someday contact you too and tell you all about what you meant in their lives. Several, and I mean seeeeveral of my former students are now teachers and administrators. In fact, one of my former high school students is now one of my graduate students, and works as an administrator in Detroit.

Oh, i can believe it. After i saw the cops in Lawton refusing to respond to a call until the medics showed up first. Medics running interference for the cops: i thought that it ought to be the other way around.

The price that we pay so that the politician's donors can have cheap labor.
