i just bought these two rough riders, after my wife took the lcr 22, i went to get me something and these were just too good of a deal to pass up. got them both for just over $229.00 they are 22lr only. i plan on using one in a cross draw holster on my left side as i'm right handed and my ruger lcr 9mm is on my right while i'm out in the woods hiking and camping. i am wondering is there anything i need to put on the wood grips to protect them? i have thought birchwood casey gunstock wax, what do ya'll use?, thanks for any help

I have used Renaissance Wax to protect and preserve various guns that I have for long term storage. This wax can be used on metal and wood objects though I think you might also want to consider a full flap holster to protect your gun's grips.

World War Supply carries leather flap holsters designed for the S&W Victory Model revolver (4" K frame), that might fit your Heritage Arms Rough Rider. It's priced from $16.99 to $34.99. I also found a nylon full flap holster for $24 from American Mountain Supply. Triple K Holsters makes a leather flap holster for a .22 single action revolver for around $82.

Can't offer an answer, but that's a good deal on a pair of those. I have two of them, also; one is like yours, and a real fun shooter. The other is a 3.5-inch "birdshead" model that I haven't gotten around to shooting. I paid for the first one what you paid for both, but it is a Magnum-convertible. The second, also a convertible, was cheaper, on a "Taurus Blem" sale..

Enjoy 'em!

I'm with Craig C. Those grips are tough. I can't think of anything you would apply to them that would make a smidgen of difference as to longevity or function.
