My new Marlin 980S...pics

I went to Walmart today looking for a Marlin 925 .22lr bolt gun. They didn't have a 925 but they had a Marlin 980S with a beautiful carbon fiber stock. It had Lipseys on a sticker. I guess it is a special run rifle for Lipseys. So after a whole 3 minutes thinking about it I decided to save our economy by buying it!!!! ............I also picked up a Centerpoint scope and a sling (again just to save our economy). I guess I will have to save the ammo companies this weekend and shoot lots of ammo too......

How do you like the scope? I don't know anything about Centerpoint. How much did it cost? Nosey ain't I?

I have several Marlin 22s. I have never had one that wasn't a shooter. That goes for the centerfires as well.

Seems like all the new synthetic-stocked rimfire Marlins have new, straight comb stocks.

Ratshooter.....I think the scope was $53. Haven't had a chance to use it yet though. It has a Lighted Reticle though. Have read a few good reviews so I took a chance....

Shot a few rounds through it this afternoon. The trigger needs a little work but I am happy with the accuracy. The scope is fine so far. Just need to shoot it a few rounds then change the power setting to see if POI changes. Thanks

I haven't been shooting much due to ammo shortages. I did do the famous Marlin mechanical pencil trick on this rifle. This entails replacing a spring in the Marlin FCG for a spring from a mechanical pencil. This lightens the trigger pull a lot. I still love the rifle because it is light and handy and balances well. Accuracy seems to better than I can hold it. It's a keeper.............
