My new set-up for future Mule Deer Hunt

Nice rig and will take a Muley off his feet. You might want lower scope mounts. I lived in NE Nevada for a few years and those guys there hunt the mule deer with everything from old 98K's and Enfields to very expensive rigs that you would sort of not like to take out in bad weather. Yours is more than up to the job. Good hunting.

Thanks guys, There is exactly 1/4" clearance between the objective bell and the barrel. I like the height; Gonna leave it. When I mount the rifle to my shoulder; I can see through the scope without raising my cheek up. It's not TOO high; at least in my opinion.

...what shooter said. ;)

I would try the next lower rings. You might have to move the scope back a small fraction of an inch to clear the eyepiece housing.

That is an excellent scope choice, IMO. :)

Nice setup! I was drooling over that exact rifle myself. It looks much better to my eyes with the Bushnell.

I have a long neck and learned the hard way what magnum smacking of the face is all about. Now I just slide most scopes on hard hitters as far forward as they will go, and they will still just touch the bridge of my nose off a bench during recoil.

I've got a .300 WSM and a .270 WSM in Browning X-bolts which are similar weight rifles to yours and they are quite lively on the bench. Doesn't hurt the shoulder any, but watch your face! In the field I've never noticed it.
