Okay, so everyone under the sun has an AR15-type or M4orgery rifle, me too. However, I like the 'retro' look of the A1 style and what started out as a pre-ban Olympic Arms CAR-15 with collapsible stock and a short 11.5/5.5 bbl configuration is now a 'transition' rifle with A1 20" upper and fixed stock. Yes, it still has the A2 lower, stock and PG, but my issue M16 11 years ago also had a mix of A1 and A2 features. The 3x scope is the ripoff Norinco just for punching paper.

I personally dont own an A-1/Sp-1 style but I allway's have favored the look over my A-2's. Funny how things seem to turn full circle; The A-2 got heavy and long, now the M-4 is the prefered peice, shorter and lighter. Seem's like we should have stuck; the A-1 syle w/upgrades seems like a nice comprimise betwene the too short and light, and too long and heavy argument. Besides, for shooting with a rest, the triagular handguards work out much better, at least for me.:D

I Love It!

A1 sights and triangular handguards have always looked "right" to me on an M-16/AR-15. I have a post-ban Bushie 20" A3 and have been seriously considering getting one of Fulton Armory's "Hornet" uppers - it's a C7 upper receiver (with brass deflector - I'm a leftie) with a surplus Colt 1/12" chrome barrel and triangular handguards and fake flash hider. Seems about as close as I can get to the configuration you have there.

I agree completely about the triangular handguards off the bench - IMO much more stable off a bag than the A2's.

Good stuff.

That looks just exactly like the one I seen someone trying to sale recently. Same picture anyways.

Nice AR by the way, reminds me of the old M16s we used during my time in the service.

Don't think the SP1 ever had a forward assist, but I could be wrong. Made about 20 years ('64-'85 IIRC), it kept the M16 upper. My fav. NOTE: The upper on that gun is a Colt but not an SP1, prolly a SPORTER. Post '85, iirc. Looks more like an A2 BBL than the willow wand SP1 bbl. Like I said, could be wrong but my SP1 got a skinnier tube.
