OK, so after a LOT of looking at these little gems, decided I had to get one.
So, ordered the model that seemed to appeal the most-the 2.5" "Sheriff" model with the magnum, and long rifle cylinders.
The 4" barrels seemed too long...the under 2" barreled models seemed to short.:D
Looked at the Black Widow a bunch before I went with the Sheriff one, just liked that heavier octagonal barrel on the Sheriff better.
Anyone have one of these?(or the BW one?)
Hoping the 2.5" has decent accuracy, may use it as a BUG...with the magnum cylinder.
Appreciate your responses!!

I've got a shortbarrel (little over an inch) .22mag version. I pretty much lives in my pocket. Small and light, it can go anywhere, even if I don't take something larger.

I've been wanting one for awhile, but have held off until I get my ccw. They seem somewhat of a novelty, and the more I think about them the more I think about investing in something else. As a primary SD gun, a single action .22 (LR or Mag) plam revolver makes less and less tactical sense. As a last ditch effort, I'd really rather having something with more power than my 9mm EDC, like a .45 derringer.

I'll probably get one of the long 4" barrel Black Widows in .22 magnum just because it looks like it would be a decent boot gun (I wear combat boots exclusively). But if I were honestly going to try and rely on a .22 magnum for SD, I'd get something like a Ruger Single Six conversion. I'm not a fan of mouse guns, so I don't know why the NAA mini revolvers have such appeal to me.

As a novelty, they are appealing. Not so much financially.

i've been wanting one for a bit.

as a backup it'd be great. even if you threat level is low and just "want something in the pocket", i can see it being just fine.

it's really apples and oranges to compare it to a single six, USAF. you mention it being a great boot gun (which it would be). how are you getting that single six in there? or a pocket?

I dodn't expect the NAA to be a sub for the Ruger. I was saying I'd feel more comfortable with a Ruger on my hip than with a NAA mini in my boot, if I HAD to rely on a single action .22 mag for SD. Given the option, Ruger single six or NAA in .22 mag, I'm grabbing the Ruger every time.

i agree. the OP is considering it for use as a BUG. i'm sure just about everyone agrees that there are a number of better choices for a primary CCW.

how did that gun fire with the hammer back?? Is that hammer bounce back or what ?
Photoshop maybe? I have a 22 Mag PUG and it does not blaze like that--

I've never considered one of these for a defensive handgun. I will say that the "Earl" is a neat looking revolver that I could see adding to the collection for the fun factor.

I sort of have the options you considered -- a Black Widow and a 3" Earl (the Sheriff with a 1/2" more... :) ). I got them both with the conversion .22 mag/.22LR cylinders.

In general, I find that I shoot the BW better than the Earl. This is the case even after I removed the BW's beefy boot grip, and replaced it with the rubber "Pug" grip (to shrink the profile). I think the BW's Novak sights are superior to the Earl's post-and-groove sights.

As much as I like that 1861 Remington look to the series, I'm thinking of replacing the plow-handle grip with another "Pug" grip. I think it would make the handgun easier to handle (I have a feeling the plow handle was designed to operate on guns 3 times bigger... :D ).

Having said all that, I like the Earl just fine. It's a fun piece to shoot, looks cool, and once a person gets a feel for the placement of shots, would probably do well as a minimalist "kit gun."

I have POI/POA issues and I've had to strike some rounds twice...I carry it in my hand when I jog for dogs or punks, its the only use I see for it.

Texasred -- I had second strike issues with both my Earl and BW. I sent them back to NAA, and they returned them with stouter main springs. They work fine now.

I have to say that I would rather avoid dealing with customer service for any company -- but when the need arises, NAA's customer service is extremely user-friendly.

HiVel1, that's not photoshop. I recorded that myself. Its a screen capture from a video and sometimes you get an odd delayed effect to the hammer while in motion during a capture. Also, yours probably does 'blaze' like that, you just can't see it. See images below:

Well built timepieces. Last ditch guns. I don't carry 'em on a regular basis anymore. I only carry 'em when I absolutely can't carry anything else. Keep in mind that they are single action. If you're getting one for kicks, then it should be a fun little gun. If it's a BUG, I'd get a KT P32 or a Ruger LCP for a smaller footprint and less weight.

Yes, this will be a fun gun, and as I said in my original post, a BUG for one of the 9mm's or .45's I normally carry.
Not in ANY way a primary!
But, who knows...as I have seen posted many times over the years....."Any gun is better than NO gun"!
I have seen these little guys for years, and always wanted one--but wanted one that may have more "usefullness", than just a toy.
Then again, maybe after the Sheriff comes in(!), maybe I will always consider it a toy. Or, maybe not! ;)

I only had to use mine once against a carjacker. suspect never got back up again. Close range up the nose does wonders to a carjacker. I was cleared of any wrong doing with my NAA .22 mag 1 inch revolver.

I've had one of the .22 LR versions for years. I've never considered it as anything more than a toy, but recently I threw it in with another gun on a trip to Las Vegas.
If it has one niche, it's as a shirt pocket poolside gun. If I ever had to use it, the tactic would be one shot to the face and run like hell...

I don't know how you folks get any useful accuracy out of these things.

I have an orphaned Freedom Arms predecessor to the NAA, and .22Shorts are the only things that allow minute of doorway accuracy. I was thinking of switching to Colibris to see if that would improve on this a bit.

It's still a ton of fun though.

I thought of these things as novelties until recently. I bought one in .22 LR for carry in places where I definitely don't want to print, or when I'm around handsy people. I've had it in my pocket all the time except when at work (because I can't carry there according to the policy).

At the range, I can only really hit accurately within about 6 feet, but that's what this gun is made for. Makes a good amount of noise and a hell of a muzzle flash at night.

I have the BW but have light strikes as well. Its good to here I can send it back and get a stouter spring to cure this. I care mine alot but recently ordered the Seecamp in 32 so this will be my new bug.
