Movie is Beyond The Law.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdIAUTv8BOo About 40 seconds in...

I was in a heated discussion about my 1911 yesterday with a guy that says it has a de-cocking lever on it. I kept saying "No... I have the gun... There is and never was a de-cock lever on it..." But he insisted that his grandfather had one and that all 1911's have a de-cock lever and that mine must have been removed... :banghead:

Anyway he gave me some insight, he said it's the same gun used in Beyond The Law and you can see him de-cock it...

The gun is NOT a 1911, but I don't know what it is...

TIA

looks like a nickeled smith model 39

with pimptastic pearl grips. i have always said i like the model 39 but:barf:

That's a Taurus. Taurus makes(or made) a pistol with a beretta style frame, and a slide that looked like a cross between a s&w, glock, and sig.

Also, the pearl grips are a dead giveaway. IT's a taurus.

Respectfully, it's not a Taurus.

I concur.

Slide safety, mag catch, integral front sight... classic 1st generation S&W.

NOPE!

I'm gonna hafta take that back. IT lacks the characteristic Beretta syle takedown lever.

It's neither a beretta nor a taurus. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's some obscure model of S&W. maybe it's some eastern european something or other.

It looks like a S&W but it's got a grip and stocks like a beretta.

Cool. I've never seen a model 39.

I LIKE IT!

It's interesting how similar it is to a beretta in the grip and hammerspring.

all 1911's have a de-cock lever

Regardless of what pistol it is (I agree it looks like a badly pimped S&W 39) your "friend" is (insert adjective) incorrect. The 1911 was not designed with nor made as a decocker. JMB designed it with a manual safety.

Hso, yeah, he's a tool....

The movie gun looks like a Smith 39 and the 39 looks kinda like the 1911 so that's probably what his grandfather had...

I can't believe this is still up for debate...

I'm ready to bet money, and call someone just so people will stop guessing! :)

It's a Smith & Wesson Model 39, nickel plated, with faux pearl grips.

It's a model 39. THe curvature of the backstrap is all wrong for a 59. I know what a 59 is and that is no 59. I'd never seen a 39 until this thread. I am going to keep my eyes open for model 39s in gunshops from now on.

Yes, a Model 39, just like the one I am holding in my hand right now except for the plating and pearl grips.

S&W 39.......... The slide release lever is different from the BDA, and the back strap is curved, unlike the 659.

I think this mystery was solved on the 3rd post.....
