Nashville considers itself to be a "progressive" city, not a gun friendly place. Yet 30% of the police own their own AR rifles? So much for LE being anti assault weapon.

In response to the recent mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., and others, the Metro Nashville Police Department will allow trained officers to carry their personal AR-15 rifles inside their vehicles while on duty.

There are very few rank and file cops who are anti-gun. There are a whole bunch of police administrators that are anti-gun.

The Houston police Department also allows trained officers to carry their personal AR15s on duty. They have to re qualify with the annually.

I was recently visiting in Franklin, NC, which is in Macon County. One of the locals there was telling me I should stay on and get a job with the MC Sheriff's Office.. said the sheriff was a friend of his who cares about his guys and will let them pretty much carry what they want in their cars. Don't know how far "whatever they want" actually goes, but AR-15 rifles was at the top of the examples list..
