The fact that the grahpic logo for the story is a handgun covered by a "no symbol" shows you that they don't even pretend to cover it from a non-biased standpoint. Though to their credit, I was surpised they showed interviews of about as many people approving of legalized handguns in DC, as those opposing.

I voted!:)

however, when I went to the website to vote I was greeted by the top story: a Washington DC mother was found dead by her children with gunshots to the head. Coincidence?

Freaking libs are trying every trick in the book to sway people. I wouldn't be surprised if they "lost" the poll results due to a "computer error".

Keep it coming guys, send the link to your pro-gun toting friends. Keep the pressure on! 88% yes as it stands.

I'm glad for the results--but so what? If the numbers were reveresed I'd be saying 'so what'? I'm happy, but always wary of tyranny of the majority.
If you asked the same about 'assault weapons' the numbers would be very different I bet.

The DC mom story has been on there since they posted the poll. It was on the right side of the page. Maybe enough people didn't see it so they moved it.

While tragic, it makes me wonder if they are turning pro gun as this is just another reason to overturn the idiot laws. Or maybe they are just too dense to understand it. Either way it is just more shameless exploitation by the media.

In any case the poll is unscientific and while I find it personally amusing it will be dismissed.

Internet Polls Show Citizen Support for Firearm Rights Decision

Neo-Luddite because sometimes we use the results to our advantage. This is essentially the same play anti's use, create a biased poll (though in this case this is not our own commissioned poll, we are just more motivated than they are) and then use that same poll for the rest of time as proof that the American people hate guns and and want "semi-automatic assault machine" guns banned, no matter how disproved that same poll becomes.

Your point is well taken, but this is a yes or no poll. Antis are very motivated and I would see no reason to believe that they chose to sit this one out. I was just looking at a website of another DC station and the comments sent in were in the same proportion. I would like to believe that something else is going on here... I don't run into a lot of people that publicly declare that they are pro-gun. The antis wear their position on their sleeve. I'd like to believe that there is an overwhelming number of people that are closet-gun folk that keep their position to themselves for fear of being perceived as "another gun nut." Maybe we're seeing the tipping point and the beginning of the end. Ya gotta believe...

88 / 12 still (just voted) 5425 / 753

The truth of gun control advocates is finally coming out, they are in the minority by far and their big $ comes from a few Billionairre elitists. God Bless America and true Americans.

Incidentally, this is an illustration of why our enemies went after "assault weapons" in the first place: Your garden variety American is pretty OK with people having a handgun in their home for their defense, and they knew they'd never get any significant traction in their goal of banning handguns.

All of the polls like this are unscientific. BUT NBC4 has been reporting on the results. Yesterday afternoon in a video/sound bite they quoted the 90/10 stats according to a friend. In a yes/no question like this this most likely helps us a great deal.

There have been some differing opinions on posting the direct link. Obviously I'm in the camp where even if they track it - who cares, since it's not a truly valid poll anyway. To the best of my knowledge NBC4 has not mentioned any tracing to pro-freedom site hits. Those that feel differently can always disguise the source. In the future I will try to post two options.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote - directly or inderectly.

Thanks, I just voted in the poll. It was 88% in favor of allowing hadguns in DC. Wonderful.

a few thoughts on DC Appeals Court ruling in Parker, this past Friday

1. Interestingly, as has been pointed out by others, at other sites, this is the first time than any federal court flatly ruled that a "gun law" , in this case restrictions and or a ban, was UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Appeals will likely be tried, so the final word has not been had, however the DC Appeals Court ruling is certainly "interesting".

2. Respecting other proposed federal gun laws, seems as if there are always some, how different, really different are they from the Washington D.C. garbage that was found UNCONSTITUTIONAL? Seems as if the answer would be NOT VERY, which leads to the following question. Might it prove worth while for gun owners to bring this court finding to the attention of their elected things, thereby raising perhaps significant question as to the constitutionality of PROPOSED legislation. Seems as if such might be the case, but that is a judgment that each of us should make. Strikes me as worthy of thought. Re contact with your federal elected things, they have local (district) offices of course. Additionally, the TOLL FREE phone number for Capitol Switchboard is as follows. 1-866-220-0044. The ladies who answer will put callers through to any congressional office requested. The rest is up to individuals.

"This is a tremendous victory for the common man and a staggering defeat for certain elitists who really don't accept the fact that average law-abiding citizens ought to be able to get and use guns, including handguns, for the defense of their lives and the lives of their loved ones against violent criminals."

It is necessary to keep this unity and to build on it further. HOORAH!
