Checked out the new Fredericksburg, VA gun show today. Pretty nice, lots of vendors - it was a pretty big show.

Just after paying for our tickets and walking through the door onto the show floor - BANG - there it was.

Some observations of the minutes following the incident:

1) There were cops standing around - conversing with patrons casually. They continued to do so for a couple of minutes after the incident.

2) Everyone seemed totally calm. In fact, I'd almost venture to say that the majority of folks didn't seem to care, which I found odd.

3) It scared the crap out of my kid. Opportunity for an educational moment in hand, I explained to him (he's almost 6) what had happened and why (someone pulled the trigger of a loaded weapon, if I had to guess.) He said, and I quote, "That was dumb." What can I say, wise beyond his years.

My wife did some recon and picked up some bits and pieces. I make NO statement as to the validity of these statements. Supposedly, someone was handling a muzzeloader (a dealers gun) and fired it through the roof. The roof part is true - I could see the hole (at least a hole over the area.)

I'm not sure how much sense that makes - but that's what she heard on the floor. Sounds fishy to me, personally.

Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along.

Good point. Another guy in another thread here asked one of the cops and I guess it was a case of the dealer handlng the customer a loaded rifle - obviously NOT a muzzleloader.
