I'd like some recommendations on a good maker of neck knives. Today, I lost my old Becker Necker while hunting . I had it in my belt pouch with the blade handle out. I was somewhat shocked to find that the kydex sheath was still in the pouch minus the knife. I will try to search for it but I'd still like get another one for every day use.

So. Anyone have some good recommendations? Thank you.

Need a bit more info on your preferences. Do you like rings, or regular handles? What blade size do you prefer? What about blade type & shape? Also, what budget range are we in?

My two favorites are the HAK, and a custom made by Shepherd. But, I have several others as well.

I like a traditional style of blade. I don't care for the rings, karambit or anything considered tactical. I liked my Becker Necker but I heard that they are now out of business.

The Necker will be out again soon from KaBar, so if you can stand waiting for it you'll be able to replace it.

I like CRKT's line of neck knives pretty well.

+1 on the CRKT.

i'm on the hunt for one myself... i've got it down to the Dogfish, Triumph N.E.C.K. or the older Falcon.

The falcon is discontinued but can be found on ebay pretty easily for < $20. Seems like a really good knife, wondering why they dc'd it. Nice <3" for states like MI (where i'm at) so it's legal.

Dogfish has the "MercHarness" which looks "snazzy" but i'm really wondering if i'd carry it like that (basically shoulder/armpit "holster")

As for the N.E.C.K., i'm trying to decide b/w cord wrapped or not.

Honestly, you can pick up all 3 for < $60 so i may go that route and sell the others or throw in my BOB.

Lastly, the Side Hawg series seems interesting. want to get my hands on one. Has a single zytel scale on one side (starboard, i guess) of the handle. Seems interesting but want to make sure if "feels" ok.

good luck. let us know what you decide.

I would pick the dogfish. The sidehawg is chisel ground and made of 420 steel, both of which a lot of people see as negatives. The N.E.C.K. series has a tanto point which lot's of people don't like for utility. The dogfish however looks cool, I like the wharcliff blade, and it has a bottle opener on the back.

I don't have any neck knives but I like the concept. I might pick up a dogfish or a buck kaala one of the these days, but I'm sure I'll get a becker necker when they're available again. I've heard too many good things about them.

I agree with the info on the Burke knives. In fact, if anyone knows of an original Snitch for sale (not the RKK version), I would be willing to buy it.

.

Buy another Becker Necker. Its my favorite in this category.

Camillus CUDA Arclite is good

CRKT Stiff KISS (spear point) is neat and comes with a very useful carry rig
(if you can find/afford one these days...)

IIRC, TOPS makes a nice neck knife as well

i go with the crkt. iv got a falcon and i love it. truthfully i skin more game with it anymore than my actual skinning knives. as far as the side hawgs go i nearly bought 1 but im just not that comfortable with the sheath.

Most of those are low end reproductions. Was there a specific knife you thought would be good?

I'm pretty sure he's just advertising for that company; his other couple posts are similar as well...

kayl,

Used to be that the only selection of knives and pointy stuff I saw years ago was the Atlanta Cutlery and Museum Replicas catalogs that showed up in the mail. Our new friend may only have experience with AC and will soon follow the trails left by the rest of us lost souls to other money sucking options.;)

Ok you talked me into it....
