Have previously owned Springfield & Glock .45's.

Looking for either Kimber or Sig as replacement. I am wanting 1911, Single stack, single action.

Any tips for you pros?

Thanks ahead of time.

Can not go wrong with your choices. I have both
I like the SIG P220 and Kimber Gold Match
Both are great. You are looking at 1911 the Kimber is very accurate and you get great support from the Company if needed. Some will dispute the Kimber but I really like them and have had great performance out of the ones i have had.
Go check them out and see what you think !!! Enjoy

Can't say I would suggest the SIG GSR just yet. It just seems to be having lots of teething problems, although I am not sure about the latest release.

All I can tell you is I've got 4 Kimbers and friends have about another 8 or 9. We wouldn't keep buying them if they had any problems:)

A friend of mine, female, very petite, just started shooting a couple, maybe 4 or 5 months ago. Out of all the calibers she has tried, she shoots .45 the best and the platform she shoots it best from is the 1911.

She has been going to the range and renting guns, different platforms and calibers, ever since she started and it still comes up .45 and 1911.

Of all the guns she has rented, the only ones she had a problem with, one stovepipe and one failure to feed, was with Kimbers. Yeah, I know the limp wristing contingent will jump in here, but she has had no problems with any other pistol. She didn't just limp wrist the Kimbers and nothing else.

She is trying to find a Rock River to take a look at. A lot of money and a lot of time to buy a gun you have never seen.

So far her favorites have been Springfield and Para Ordnance 1911's,.

Go to a range and shoot the ones you are interested in. Buy the one you shoot best.

By the way, she is progressing nicely and at 7 yards can put all shots into one ragged hole. Must be because she had a good first teacher, that's right, me.

I have a SIG GSR and it is one of my most accurate pistols.

I have had no problems with it yet. I do know that some of the earlier GSR's did have some issues, but, for the most part, they have been resolved.

What I like about my GSR is the fact that it is stainless steel with no MIM parts, and the frame-to-slide fit on it is very tight. SIG put this thing together with top-drawer parts and the quality does show (the rail does take some getting used to on a 1911, I might add).

I also have 2 Colt Gold Cups, one series 80 and the other series 70, and the GSR is much more accurate than both, and the fit is a lot tighter.

Go with the kimber both guns are around the same cash I own both. The sig, I did NOT get in "K" Kote and it is always rusting on me. was a conceal gun, now it's in the safe and my G-21 goes with me.
