Hello all, I'll just jump rite into my question, my local store has a Jericho in .9mm as well as a cz75b in .9mm, I'm very very interested in both

Ive always loved the Jericho/baby eagle, but I really like that 75 and they both feel good I'm my hand, i dont recall the exact prices but they're only about 50-75$ apart so price isn't the thing,

I want opinions on accuracy and dependability, i don't currently own any 9's so I'm thinking it may be time to adopt

Thanks ahead of time
Tyler

Always liked the CZ 75's accuracy. Also like the FNP-9. The Ruger SR9 is very accurate also, made easier to shoot with the light Ghost connector installed. Sigs are also accurate. Pick one that fits your hand the best. Rent and shoot first if possible.

I haven't tried the Jericho, but have heard good things about them.

Really? Nobody likes the aesthetics? I love the sleek, almost streamlined appearance, it's just kinda simplistic, also I've always heard things made in Israel are of good quality, but the same for cz

Edit: after a short search I realized that there are a few different models, the one I'm referring to is the more rounded model

CZ75 is the original, Jericho is a CZ75 clone, made primarily by Tanfoglio of Italy and assembled in Israel. The Jericho 941 is a well built gun, but I prefer the original. The CZ75 is an awesome sidearm, and I bet my life on a CZ every day - so does my wife. :)

As for full size, hard to beat the CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom...

You shouldn't buy either of them. CZ seems to be a favourite of this website, yet I've not owned one.

I do however, own both a glock and a ruger P89. Both are legendary in their dependability. The ruger, especially, is built like a tank and is heavy enough that the front sight barely moves when I fire. I don't think I'm especially skilled in shooting, yet I am amazed at how tight my groups are especially when I compare them to my carry weapons (S&W 642, g 26).

Hi Tyler,
I've seen good reviews for the CZ 75B. If your eyes are just focused on those two guns(Jericho and the CZ 75B) I would suggest the CZ 75B. If your mind is still open for other 9s try checking out a SIG Sauer P220 or P226. I both have them and they are really straight shooters and pointers not to mention the trigger. Among the other 9s (Steyr M9 A1, Walther P9S, Walther P1, 2-SIG Sauer P220 and SIG Sauer P226)) that I have, SIG Sauer's trigger is the best. All my 9s have no trigger modification. It is among that group that the gun never twitches when you dry fire. What I mean is that I could see the sights don't move in-between the pulling of the trigger does it really stays on the target, thus, delivering fine accuracy. Sorry can't provide the weight pull since I don't have a gage to check it but it certainly is crisp and light. Try checking and firing it out before you finally decide on your first 9. Still, if money is not problem do checkout the SIG Sauer P226 X-Five, bit more costlier but more finely tuned.

Good luck in your search and hope you find the one best suited for you.

9mm pistol

Sig p226 9mm, accurate, dependable, quality. Add a 22 conversion kit ,works great. Between the other two I like the looks of the CZ 75, but never owned one. Good Luck!

What's the intended purpose of the gun? Is it for home defense, carry, or both? Target shooting or plinking? My choice between the two would certainly be the CZ-75. I think it would serve any and all of the above roles well. However, I'm also inclined to agree with Bookworm about maybe considering other choices if the gun is for carry. A full size handgun can certainly be a great CCW, I've used one for years. You just need to be aware of the size, weight, and possible dress limitations you're getting into with that weapon. Also, you're going to need to dedicate yourself to learning the manual of arms with that pistol whether you plan to use it single action (my choice) or DA/SA.

The Armalite AR-24 is superior to both you have listed.

The CZ is a much more proven firearm. I love mine, it's reliable and very accurate. It's also such a joy to shoot, it's not my carry gun so I have to avoid only shooting my CZ75B, but it's hard. :)

Go with the CZ

I own both the Jericho/baby eagle and the CZ both are excelent. My Jericho has had more than 10,000 rounds through it and it will eat ammo that other guns didn't like.
You have chosen two guns that are well respected so don't be swayed from your choice.
as a collector that has most of the major brands I will only give you one suggestion. The CZ has more accesories available. When I needed a conceled carry holster for my Jericho I couldn't find any leather worker that had experience with that gun. other accesories like sights and grips were just as hard to find..

go with the CZ

Thank you all for the quick responses, the purposes for th gun will be "general purpose" if you will, I have a holster for every weapon I own just on the off chance I wana carry it that day, and I usually try to take them all to the range, not at once of course, bit at least every so often, I was thinking about carrying it a bit too, I'm no stranger o larger guns tho as my daily carry is part of the time a Taurus 66, in 2 3/4" .357, it's a bit big but I like it and conceal it well, I'm still on the rocks here, I really like the Jericho but I really like the cz and the fact that I can customize it and find accessories for it, Lao how hard is it to find magazines for the Jericho?

If its just between those two the CZ. Our recommendation lsit for our clients looking for a full size 9mm includes FNH, Sig, Springfield, H&K, Beretta, and Walther. I would go with a Sig P226, Walther P99, XDM 9, FNX 9 and H&K P30
before I even looked at a CZ.

I have shot and used a CZ75 when I had no other choice. I would take a CZ before a Glock.

I recently wrote a seven part article on the CZ 85 on a blog. I concluded it with a general opinion of these guns. Here's what I said:

"Final Thoughts

The CZ 75 and 85 series of service pistols are deserving of every compliment given them since the day they were first produced. These guns are first rate equipment and are clearly worth more than the prices asked for them. They shoot beautifully right out of the box, and keep on shooting beautifully. A friend recently said that during his long career in IDPA shooting, he had been impressed by the fact that the CZ pistols he has seen in use by competitors were all in "box stock" condition. And in a recent gun forum exchange a new CZ 75B owner gushed over his new pistol and eagerly told of all the changes he was going to make to it – only to have the old timers on the forum pointedly tell him he was wasting his money because CZ pistols don't need all the changes other guns need in order to serve their owners properly. Granted, the CZ pistols can be made into superbly tricked-out competition combat guns, sophisticated target pistols, and some of the best concealed carry guns around. But in my experience the factory stock CZ 75B/85B series pistols need no improvement in order to be formidable, accurate, and reliable service guns. These well designed, well balanced, and eminently shootable pistols are some of the best values seen since Mr. Saive finished Mr. Browning's work and gave us the Browning/Saive P-35 pistol in 1935. That is high praise indeed. Thanks for listening."

I bought my first CZ pistol 20 years ago and have owned four of them now.

Get the original. CZ USA has good customer support, as well
as the CZ Custom Shop

and for the sig kool aiders, kinda rude to recommend a P226 which
is at least a couple hundred higher in price. and just for
the record imo the sig DA/sa triggers suck.

FWIW - I have a standard CZ 75B - very reliable, and accurate. I like the shape of the backstrap of the grip I'm concsdering the
CZ 75B in .40 S&W I like the platform that much.

I like the CZ 75B but it does not fit my hand. I personally would take the Sig DA/SA over the camming DA/SA of the CZ line everyday of the week. I own a CZ P01 and have owned a 75B, 75 Compact and PCR.

Everyone always raves about the CZ but no one ever mentions the camming of the trigger and the fact that they are not easy to work on. Am I the only person who notices the camming?

If I were in the market for a full sized 9mm I would consider the Sig Pro SP2022. They can be had for $400 + transfer. It is hard to beat that value. Good smooth DA trigger that is a little long but consistent. SA is short and sweet.

In the end its all about what fits your hand well. Chosing between the Jericho and the CZ get the CZ.

Hmm, camming, no, to be completely honest, I didn't notice that in any of mine. NOT saying you're wrong, but I never really noticed anything with the triggers of the 11 CZ pistols we have/have had, (with the exception of the CZ100 - worst trigger of all time, bar none), but I usually dont - I like the HK vp70z, too. :) If I need work done, CZ Custom is about 30 minutes away by car. :D But I have never needed work done, either.
The AR 24 is a clone of a clone, made by Sarsilmaz of Turkey, who used to be a Tanfoglio distributer, who then copied the Tanfolgio Force, (known here as the EAA Witness), which was subsequently imported by Armalite as the AR-24. Good solid well made gun from what I have heard. A decent choice.
I used to work in a gunshop, an indoor range and an outdoor range. I heard many people badmouth the CZ as Eurotrash. Then they tried one, and most quit complaining. No, no gun is for everyone, or we would have no need for the great diversity of choice out there, even the "drastic plastic". ;) Find what works for you and go from there. We can suggest, but you're the one shooting it, maybe betting your life on it.

Are all cz's single action? Or are there DA? I'd prefer the latter but I like the gun regardless, also is the Jericho a DA?

Most CZs are DA/SA, and there is a DAO version. Czech the home page out, my friend.

Click on the "Handgun" picture for more info.

The Jericho should be also a DA/SA, unless they made radical changes since I saw one last.

Ok so isn't the browning high power and the 75 essentially the same pistol? I looked at a browning hp earlier tonight and the guy behind the counter told me they're single action only, which I thought odd but I didn't know for sure so I didn't argue

"Guys behind the counter" often don't know what they are talking about, so don't be afraid to school them once and a while.

If the CZ and the Jericho is what your store has in stock, I think you'd be doing great with either one. You didn't mention, but are they new or used guns? The only difference I've ever seen in the ones I've owned and handled was the effects of wear and tear from previous owners.
There are so many great full sized 9's out there, in so many price ranges, I could blow a years pay on all the ones I'd like to own. The Ruger P series, S&W 3rd generation guns, Browning hi powers, Sigs, the list goes on and on.
I shouldn't have read this just 2 hours before going to a gun show, now I'm going to be all worked up looking for cool 9mm's.
