ya i gave up. i refrained from citing the NRA, GOA, JPFO etc in an attempt to provide unbiased informations such aas actual FBI crimte stats and such but it just goes in one ear and out the other. he still tells me that the bradies and VPC have debunked Lott/Kleck and he truly believes it. he is firmly convinced that CCW increases cime and that's it. he lives in Wisconsin. surprise surprise.

Heck, he's already turned in his brain. What's one body part more? We're much safer with these dangerous things like brains, penises, and guns only in the hands of the authorities.
FWIW, my ultimate argument for RKBA is that I do not trust the government to be the sole bearer of arms. In the 20th century, governments outright murdered 150 million of their own citizens. The activities of criminals pale in comparison.

One good resource for info is called "the nine myths of gun control" that was put out by the second amendment sisters . They give a lot of background info and you should be able to pull this up on a search.
That said , there have been many good points brought to bear here.
Statistics are often misused in an attempt to prove a pre-conceived point. If one is biased, I can assure you that the data can be manipulated to reflect that bias , and I can also assure you that it happens often.
If one's goal is to remove all potential danger from our society, then the data clearly shows there are many things more dangerous than an average citizen with a firearm.
Edited to add : Remember also that you may be able to prove the sky is blue , but if the guy is blind , it won't make any difference to him.

A debate is when persons with differing views try to convice a neutral party of the correctness of their arguments. What you are talking about is not a debate, since there is no neutral party and the other guy hates your guts.

I don't know about you, but my rights do not depend on statistics.
We could have a million gun-related deaths a year and it still would not change the fact that I have an intrinsic, inalieable right to keep and bear arms.
