Yes you definitely have an 1917 Enfield that is manufactured by Winchester and sporterized. Unfortunately it loss it's collector value by doing so, but a very fine rifle for what it was altered for...Sporting. It should have a W stamped on the bolt handle if the bolt that is original. Please have a smith check head space, and confirm the caliber. I have owned a half dozen of them over the years, but only kept two sporterized ones that were re barreled due to originals being toast from not cared for, as it was the days of corrosive priming. One barreled to 25 caliber, and the other 6mm. Fine rifles in every way. Original caliber was 30-06. Sister P 1914 was made for the British in 303 British with everything else except fror the bolt face which differed. You did great with the price paid for it. It should serve you well

I have always heard the Winchester built ones are the best actions, followed by the Remington actions ,then the Eddystone..I had a nice Eddystone years ago.It was sporterized, but nicely done, with marbles sights, and walnut stock, they even got rid of the belly buldge under the magazine. It looked just like a model 30..I traded it for one of those Century International Arms sporterized 98s,and regretted it.The old Eddystone was a better shooting gun
