Need quick advice on a Colt Trooper

P.S. for the detail oriented among us who are troubled by the blued hammer and trigger in the OP's beauty, I note the gunbroker example sports them as well. Any Colt experts want to chime in on when Colt abandoned true case hardening? Nitrous "fire" blue?

I'm not real sure if Colt ever had case hardened triggers and hammers like S&W did. My 1964 Python has both trigger and hammer blued.

My 1968 Trooper (not a MkIII), has a blued trigger, but the sides of the hammer are in the white.

Not trying to drift a thread but I have a question- looking at a Colt Trooper mk iii - 6" barrel with a vent rib and synthetic grips, "Coltguard" or something electrolysis nickel finish. Is this a j-frame? Can finger-groove grips be obtained? Can wood grips be obtained that fit the gun?
Thank you

You are sure it is a MK III and not the MK V? I may be way wrong on this but I thought the vented rib came about on the MK V and wasn't available on any of the MK III guns. The Coltguard was a satin nickel finish as far as I know verse the bright nickel. The MK III was a Colt J frame (Medium Frame) revolver.

My MK III has the solid rib and is 6" bright blue. I may be wrong as to the rib. Mine also has the wood grips but I think I have seen some with the synthetic grips.

Update. Finally made it to the range. Thought you guys might like to see the results of the first 12 rounds. Didn’t have quite as good results with loads of Bullseye; Herco loads were all over the place. Just an FYI.

One problem; the ejector rod works loose with the recoil. Thanks to RCModels instructions, I hope I solved that problem today.

That is part of the basis for my question. This gun has "Mark iii" stamped on the side of the barrel.
Then I would start another thread, we have some pretty sharp Colt revolver guys in these forums. I don't see why you couldn't get wood grips. However, I don't get the vented rib unless at some point the barrel was changed.
