Need some good pepper spray or similar for PRCA

As if MD and DC are not bad enough for the moment, I just found out I will be working near compton, CA for 7 days in early february. I will be bringing my guns to go shooting with, but obviously not for carry :fire: The area I am staying in is not too bad, but the area I am working in is not a good place to be unarmed and white. I was thinking some sort of spray, but I need something I can order over the internet as no place near me seems to have anything great. I was going to pick up some sort of good knife as well...I usually carry a leatherman but its not that great. I have some experience in knife fighting training so I while Im no expert, I can handle on ok. Anything else that is CA legal would be great as long as I can order it over the net.

A cop once told me I can't use it on people......it seemed to work just fine though, no one ever came back for more.:evil:

BTW, I carried a gun anyway most of the time, I think if you keep your nose clean you won't get searched also afaik, in CA if you have to use your gun for selfdefense, that you wont get charged.

hey jl storm which race do you think you'll need to protect yourself from more? BLACKS, HISPANICS, OR ASIANS? you did say you are going to work in a place where it is not safe to be white.

sometimes carry oc spray in the big cans for grizz, thats how I scored the big green can.

I am from a bad hood in NY and went to a mostly black middle and high school, black kids will jump you for being a white kid just as fast as a black kid would get jumped for being in a white neighborhood.

Some places it's not safe to be black and others not safe to be white.

FWIW in my old hood it was diverse, it wasn't safe for anyone no matter what creed or color.

its a very black area, but they have a few latin gangs now and in addition to the well known bloods/crypts there are other gangs springing up. Im hoping they will be to busy fighting with each other to notice me...but who knows.
 
RAID "Wasp and hornet spray" at the hardware store is the schizzel. Cheap, sprays farther than any pepper spray will and is pretty inconspicious in a car, try and put a small amount on your forearm, it burns like heck:evil:
 
OC sprays...

I'd look into the Mace brand Pepper Gel or maybe the new 360 First Defense brand.

I had some of the 360 type OC spray mark-3 size and sprayed it a few times. I did not like the way a slight breeze could blow the pepper spray off target. :uhoh:

The Mace gel type is strong and thicker than other OC sprays on the US market. The catalog states it works out to 25ft. I think it has the UV light ink in it too. ;)
This ink stays on a subject for about 48hrs. Check these sources for pics and details;

expiration on sprays?

does anyone know how long the different types of sprays are good for?

also, why do they bother with UV inks? it seems to me if i had a face full of red dye i would be easier to spot than with uv marking.
 
Pepper gel can be whipped right back at you by the BG. Best stuff is Fox Labs OC, period.

Even in tests, people can generally keep on fighting right through the other brands, but the Fox Labs stuff makes them lose it and fall or stumble off in what looks like abject pain.
 
I like the Fox Labs products, 5.3m shu's, which is very painful.

I usually dispose of them after a year...i live outside of town, so i just spray them outside to empty them out, upwind of course...I'm sure if you emailed any supplier they could give you a recommendation for shelf life.
 
Better check to see if you can bring OC spray on the airplane. Not sure the regs on this, but you might be better off to buy it in CA when you get there.

I can sympathize with the selection. But I suspect if you used it, you would likely be sued since it is poisonous. Read the label.
 
Since hornet spray is a nerve toxin that can cause CNS damage of the irreversible sort, you'd get your posterior handed to you in court, yes.
 
You should check out what's available at the local Turners. I believe that CA subjects are not permitted to own Fox, based on it not being shippable to CA from sportsmans guide, and other online distributors.

Those folks have a different agenda, and what they will do is seldom related to the CA law.

CA says the proles can own and use 'tear gas', which is defined to include OC - see PC 12041. No mention of brands or strengths, just size/volume:
(e) (1) No person shall purchase, possess, or use any tear gas weapon that expels a projectile, or that expels the tear gas by any method other than an aerosol spray, or that contains more than 2.5 ounces net weight of aerosol spray.

Good call on what you can fly with! DOT/FAA sets the limits based on the fact that it's a pressurized canister and many propellants are essentially natural gas. You may want to order it and have it shipped to your destination and dump it on the way back.

Uh, what? I've never heard of this happening, not within my lifetime at least. That is, of black kids getting jumped in white neighborhoods.
 
I know Kimber just came out with their "Guardian Angel".

I don't know anything about it or know of anyone who's used it, but perhaps someone can chime in who has.

It's sort of the knee-jerk preamble that you must say before you say what REALLY is the truth but is probably offensive to some people. ;)
