The full-lugged 4-inch adjustable-sighted SP 101 has been formally announced.
Not a bad little gun for trail use. Full velocities of the bigger GP without the weight, and with the ability to sight in a specific load.
MIM hammer now, sharp edges are gone.

Although, at this point, I probably have no need for one of these, I suspect it will be a good seller and I'm glad Ruger has come out with this version. Excellent. Ruger has been getting a lot more creative lately, that's for sure.

I'm glad to see 'em exploring possibilities with the SP.

Now, if they could just put out a 3-shot .45 Colt version.... :)

Naw! Can't see that ever happening. :)
Who'd buy one?

This is really cool. It gives you the advantages of a 4 inch barrel velocity and sight radius with the slimness of a 5 shot for comfy cozy IWB goodness.

Got the release from Ruger today, I've had the gun since last week.

You know, I've often wondered why Ruger hasn't made a 7 shot GP100 like the S&W 686+, or an 8 shot like the S&W 627. I don't know if the frame and cylinder are big enough for an 8 shot, but certainly 7. Is it tradition?

A 4 inch SP101 sounds cool, but it fits in between usefulness categories for me. I own a 3" SP101 and it is my favorite carry gun (I love it. It's the perfect carry gun for me.) , but I don't think I'd pick up a 4" for the little bit of extra velocity it will get me. The longer bbl and adjustable sights could be detrimental for concealed carry, and a full size GP100 or S&W 686 seem a better choice for hunting, range, or home defense.

I bet it will make a really nice trail gun though for those really concerned about weight.

2-line warning on the bottom of the lug, like the new .22.

Well now... I think I'm married to someone who needs one of those. Then I can inherit the 3" one sitting in the nightstand.

Damn Ruger for doing this. I'd recently sworn off buying any more guns and then they do this. This has been a really difficult 7 days for me.

I'm strangely attracted to this revolver.... Up until now I've been a semi-only type of guy, but this one might change things for me
