I guess I will just stick with my new S&W model 631 32 mag with adjustable sights and a 4" barrel that only weighs 24oz. Now thats a trail gun.:neener:
Those don't really exist in the real world...they're just a made-up fairytale to keep us wishing...:D

I wish that they'd get rid of that full underlug

And some would complain if they did. Theres plenty of super light wieght 357's out there. Thats one reason the sp101 shines. Its built with a little extra heft. Most sp101 owners like the extra wieght, or they would have pick something else. Its what the sp101 is known for in the snub nose revolver world, little heavy and built like a tank. can't please them all.

Now if they would bring back the .327 Magnum as a 6-shooter, they might be on to some

What do you mean? I just bought a new 327 SP 101. What did they discontinue? Did they have the 327 out in a 4" barrel at one time?

I shoot better with my 2.25 inch SP101. I just don't like that front sight on the new ones. But,I like those grips.

Triggernosis they do exist. Here's the proof. And notice, it has no lock.

Well dang it, where is my picture?:cuss:

Well I hope this worked. Okay. That did it. And while I had it out I weighed it. It weighs just over 22oz not 24oz.

Excellent idea and would make a fine trail gun says I. Small enough to CC and just enough gun for a whole lot of hunting needs from small game to varmints and deer. In Indiana 4" is the minimum barrel length for a deer gun. I would prefer less of an under lug but it is understandable that they don't want the added complexity.

Medium barrel length, small to medium frame revolvers are very flexible pieces IMO. Hope it sells well.

I got my SP 101 out last night and used a tape measure to help me visualize a 4" 101 with adjustable sights and I may have to rethink my opinion. That might make a better trail gun than I thought. I know I would prefer it over an 8 shot 22 in the same weight range. And where and how I hunt it should make a good 25 yard deer killer. I know its effective range is longer but 25 yards would be an easy shot.

For a pure trail gun the S&W 631 would still be my first choice.

All I can say is go Ruger. You guys rock!

Two yrs ago I was looking for a 4" light trail gun and got the Charter .357 25oz. Really like it, have shot a dozen or so hogs and 3 deer with it. May have to give this ruger a look see. Here's my CA. Laser is very handy with hogs at night.

Picked up one of the new 4" Rugers Saturday morning. I called my LGS Friday to see if he could order one, he said the UPS driver should be delivering one later that day and if I wanted it he'd hold it. I'm going to try to get to the range Sunday and run a few rounds through the gun. BTW, $500.00 plus tax.

Beauty. Might kill off the 4 inch GP100 sales a bit. Really, it it the perfect size for the .357 Magnum cartridge now that the Security Six is gone. Should CCW just fine.

My 4" SP101 in .32 H&RM was horrible, QC-wise - and had the cheesy windage-only adjustable sight. The 3" .327 Fed Magnum version was likely made of 3" .32 H&RM leftovers - no big stretch there. The 4" SP101 in .22LR & .357M have a fully adjustable rear sight - a worthy improvement. The two .22's I saw looked real good. The one I shot didn't seem to group too well and had a familiar gritty & stiff trigger. The grouping could be just matching the ammo - but my S&W J-frame rimfires aren't persnickety and had smooth triggers. The SP101's need TLC.

S&W promised the 2 1/8" non-comped 632 Pro for ~19 months - finally started shipping them in late August. I bought mine in early September - notice anything missing?

They started making some brand new revolvers without the IL!!

Nice Bush Pilot. If ya do a range report can you put a link up here. I am eager to read it.
Had a chance to shoot a few rounds Sunday morning. The first 5 shots you could cover with a quarter (7 yds, offhand, very mild reloads) The second five rounds opened the group to about 1 1/2". A friend took a few shots and put 25 in a half dollar sized group. BTW, the temp was about 21 degrees and breezy, neither one of us was really enjoying ourselves. I can't wait until the weather warms up, it appears this gun will really shoot under better conditions.
