A new flashbunny.org production: "The Truth About 'Assault Weapons'". Featuring guns, ammo, and gratuitous truth and logic.

http://www.flashbunny.org/content/assaultweapons.html

Any feedback, corrections, spelling errors, etc, let me know. And if you feel the movie is too fast or too slow, include the speed
of your computer with your post.

(Special thanks to Oleg for the 'Evil Assault Weapon' pic used in the movie)

Thanks, moondancer. After seeing it so many time things like that are easy to miss.

Maybe use a claw hammer instead of a sledge hammer on the most commonly used page (unless of course more people are beat with a sledge than claw). A claw is something that more people have around the house than a sledge.

Otherwise it looks great.

Nice. Very nice. I especially liked the "Evil" 11th round. :)

I'd suggest adding a comment to the bayonet lug item, because it would flow better. After three items with comments I expected a fourth comment. Perhaps something along the lines of:

"Because shooting someone with this rifle is okay, but using it as a spear is prohibited." (Paraphrase from Jon Stewart)

just checked the clipart library and there is a claw hammer, so I'll substitute that.

I didn't really have anything to put with the 'bayonet lug' blurb except 'where else are you going to mount your bayonet?', so I just left it plain ;)

No additional critiques to add to the ones above. Well done piece of work. Sending the link out now.

Keep up the great work!

The story and stats I saw that I used for reference is that blunt objects are more likely to be used in a murder than an 'assault weapon', and a screwdriver doesn't qualify as blunt.

Oddly enough, after I finished it today, I heard on the local news that someone was beaten to death with a crowbar.

LOL sorry have to laugh at the for the childern remark...

as that is our line at work to justify ANYTHING. Darrin trying to prove why he needs an 86,000 Dollar phone switch in his own office, "cause its for the childern". Me and a geek USP owner....we need a dvd burner "cause its for the childern" :D

Yes, it is for the children. You want your children to be able to afford high cap magazines and folding stock AR-15's, don't you? :D

Great film!

I especially like the remark about bayonet attacks reduced to zero from zero. I know it's an old joke in among our crowd, but whenever I explain the AW ban to a non-gunny, the observation that Congress is protecting us from drive-by bayonetings always elicits a laugh. Really drives home how stupid the law is.

I just watched all the flashbunny movies, and I loved them all :). My favorite had to be famous gun nuts. This may be a stupid question, but is there any "safe" or "non-scary" accesories that can be mounted to the bayonet lug. As in flashlights, slings, or bipods? I hesitate to use the word safe to describe a, but maybe suggest another use for the bayonet lug, because I agree that the clip would flow better if there was a blurb under bayonet lug. Leaving that one blank almost implies that its okay to ban the guns due to to the bayonet lug. Or at least I can see a gfw saying something stupid like that.

That page is so awesome, I have a new favorites site! I WANT THAT MOUSE PAD (the gun nuts one).

Bastiat,

The AR in the movie is mine

BTW, it's an evil post ban. Colt R6920 LE Carbine, that I can only own because of my status as a Peace Officer. Retire, leave the job and I have to sell it to another Peace Officer.

Jeff

Jeff-

Nice AR. You should have a grenade launcher on there - it would have made it that much more evil looking for the presentation :D

bastiat,
I have a preban Bushmaster that is almost identical (no RAS or light). I like to use them to educate people about the stupidity of our gun laws. When you put them side by side and ask them to tell you why one is evil and one is good..you get some interesting answers....

Jeff

Two mis-spellings I picked up: in the photo of an AR with parts labeled, the word "Suppressor" is mis-spelled, and under the "Pistol Grip" description, the word "comfortable" is mis-spelled. Otherwise, good stuff!

*ahem*

$87,000 phone system ;)

The only thing I'd point out is the very last comment, "Do it now. For the children." Just doesn't sound right for some reason. What about, "Do it now. Do it for the children." or, "Do it now, for the children."

Don't worry I ain't no grammer expert it just seems like something is out of place or something at least it's not a run-on sentence like I've seen elsewhere man I hate run-on sentences there is no excuse to not use a punctuation mark here and there come on folks get it together!

*twitches*

Jeff, I ought to have a photo of your pre/post ban rifles side by side but this was done in a hurry. Besides, what better illustration of the problem if not that we can't even tell which is which without reading the receiver legend.

Yes, it must be your PC as the movie ran perfectly on mine.

BTW, if you really want to see the mentality of the enemy, check out how the true believers over at www.democraticundergound.com reacted to this movie, and to the "assault weapons" ban generally. The level of discourse over there is exceptionally low.

Here's the typical style of argument over there. Mind you, I am neither making this up nor editing these two posts. The following two posts are quite typical of the hoplophobic regulars who post in the crime and gun forum there.

"Guns=kill---kill=bad----guns=bad. Seems simple to me."

and

"Just the fact that something called an 'assualt weapon' [sic] is manufactured, let alone legal, simply boggles the mind...and who do they accuse as being 'soft on crime'?"

That's it. Those were the entire posts.

Astounding, isn't it? I have never seen so much intellectual laziness, dishonesty, and willful ignorance gathered together in one place. Anyone pro-gun is dissed by the regulars as "gun woo woos," "gun idiots," or "gun nuts" while pro-2nd Amendment people who point out the ignorance of the antis get reprimanded for supposedly violating their rules. Try to discuss the specific features of various firearms (such as caliber, cartridges, semi-auto vs. full-auto, etc.) and you're called a nut. Try to carry on a rational discussion about the etymological differences between the terms "assault rifle" and "assault weapon" and they essentially call you some kind of Nazi. Recommend that they read the books of Wayne LaPierre or Joyce Lee Malcom, and they will think of a thousand self-serving rationalizations why they just can't be bothered. Instead of debate, you'll get an earful of smears, ad hominems, and guilt-by-association type of "arguments" as to why the works of Halbrook, Kopel, Cramer, Malcom, Baker, Heston, et al. just aren't even worth considering. "Facts? We don't need no stinkin' facts!"

Democraticunderground.com takes the cake. They can't handle the truth. Mostly a bunch of socialist bed-wetters engaging in one big, dysfunctional, mutually-reassuring pity-party.

I am more convinced than ever that we hold the moral and intellectual highground in the gun debate.

[OK, I'm done ranting now.]
