In the past couple months, I have really started taking an interest in knives. This is because, 1) They are legal to carry in MD (which is damn near impossible to get a CCL in). 2) they are typically cheaper then guns and fun to collect. I usually spend <$100 on knives but have been craving a nice higher end carry blade.
Well, I was cruising the web Monday night (instead of watching the skins get their asses kicked), when I saw the Boker Applegate Folding Dagger. I have the Gerber Applegate Combat folder, and simply love the design. It is darn near perfect. I was thinking of picking up a more higher end knife, and this one fit the bill perfectly. It is similar to the Boker AFD, but has a serial number. Mine is 040, but I have no idea how high they go.
So, I ended up purchasing a Boker Applegate Fairbain Folding Dagger (or AF FD). It arrived today, and man is it SEXY. As I said, this is my first "higher" end knife. The fit and finish is exemplary, and the blade pivot is glass smooth. It fits great in my sausage-like mitts. The blade design is very nice, and looks modern yet classy. I am totally in love, and can't put the damn thing down! A couple cool things that totally surprised me (pleasantly):
-I has a billet aluminum "glass breaker" built into the handle (see last pic)
-It came in a nice pleather padded taco case
-You can reposition the clip for RH (tip up or down), and LH (tip down only), and it has little Boker tree stamped aluminum inserts to fill the non-occupied pocket clip hole
Some basic specs:
3 7/8" blade
9.5" overall
Handle: Grey Aluminum
Blade: Bead blasted S60V
Enough talking... On with the pics:
The knife... Ain't she pretty?
The aluminum "glass breaker"
