Just picked it up. Mine is marked P9M, imported by TGI. I put a deposit on it a week ago without even really knowing what the heck it was. Impulse buy... I wanted a BHP but the price was a factor.

Since then I read the FEG P9R is not a true clone, not even close, the FEG PJK 9HP was the true clone and my model, the PM9 had a different barrel lockup, similar to the S&W model 59 but when I brought it home and stripped it, it looks like a true BHP clone to me. This is my first HP so I really don't know what I'm looking at and don't have another to compare. Here's a few pics, does it look like a true BHP?

What one guy said on the net may be true about FEG models, you don't know what's inside till you field strip them.

Yes, your P9M marked FEG is definitely a HP clone and looks like what would normally be marked a PJK 9HP. Here is my FEG P9M barrel next to one of my BHP barrels. As you can see the P9M uses a different lockup (similar to the S&W as you said).

That's what I expected to see when I stripped mine! I just came back from the range and fired 125 rounds. No failure of any kind. No hammer bite either as I was careful of how to grip it. I think I will bob the hammer a bit and get a Hogue wrap-around grip. I have that grip on my CZ 75 and like it.

I found the trigger a bit unpleasant. Lots of gritty take-up and slightly stiff. I may go ahead and defeat the mag disconnect and hit the contact points of the trigger assembly with a felt wheel and some rouge. I like the pistol. I knew I would because I have a couple 1911's, the CZ 75 and a CZ-82. I really like steel pistols that are hammer fired in single-action. These new whiz-bang, DAO, plastic-fantastic jobs just don't do it for me.

Now I'm going to want another one. :uhoh:

I thought about taking out the mag safety in this gun and am having second thoughts. I think I'll just polish the contact points I can see and see how it shoots.

Those FEGs have always been good deals, they supplied the Hi-Powers for Charles Daly and also for Mauser, back when they were importing them into the US. They also made the DA versions(also for Mauser) which were, internally very similar to the earlier S&W autos.
The Hi-Power clone is currently issued to most of the Hungarian military and security services.
The Bulgarians issue their clone, the Arcus, to their military and security services.

I hear the Arcus is an excellent gun. I am offput by the blocky unfinished lok of them though. I didn't know the Bulgarian and Hungarians issue these guns now.

I passed a $200 Arcus anib in 2003. Maybe I should not have. I bought a ANIB Llama 9x19 at the same price though, it works well but wont feed any type of jhp.

Shop also had a $200 Star firestar 9x19 at $200 that day. I guess it was $200 cheap 9mm day and I had to pick one!

Dump the magazine safety and you'll think it's a different gun.:D My FEG has one of the best triggers in in my "group." It's not a 1911 or an old S&W, but I think it's as good or better than any of my Sigs.

The P9M SA was the model I was referring to on the other thread. Mine was a good pistol.

They are inconsistent in marking pistols. FEG tends to have one set of model names/numbers for Europe, and other set for the U.S. However, I have seen importers like SSME and SOG bring in small lots of European marked 9mm pistols. If a model doesn't sell well, it seems like they just keep plugging away under a new name/marking.

I'm still conflicted about taking that mag safety out. I don't want to muck it up and it doesn't shoot bad right now.

I'll hold off till I have at least 500 rounds through the pistol.

I must have dry-fired it 1,000 times yesterday. :)
