I have another "stupid" question for you all  . I am coming into some money real soon, and have an itch for a new gun, I just cant decide which one. I love .45 and I love .40. I don't like 9mm, Dont ask why, I couldnt answer that question other than I just simply dont enjoy shooting them. Now for my questions.

I love the feel of the XD (didnt hold a .40 yet), fits me perfect, love the features etc... BUT I have NO experience with .45GAP and have never seen it for sale around here that I know of. Does the XD come in .45ACP? Everytime I have held an XD45 its in the 45 case and I "assumed" it was ACP, and the salesman never said it was GAP.

Second, does FN Make any guns in any other calibure than 9 or 5.7? As I said, I dont like 9 and my range does not allow 5.7 because the backstop isnt strong enough, but I do like the feel of them.

Finally, besides a 1911 or glock, does anyone have any options that I may have overlooked for a 4" autoloader in .40 or .45ACP? It will be used MOSTLY for range time, small farm plinking use, very limited carry for when I go out of state (MD:barf: ). Glocks dont fit my hand right at ALL, and A 1911 is in the future, I just want something with more capacity for now to mess with at the range. I may end up walking out with a Kimber anyway, but for now I would like to hear about any other options.

TIA, -Jason

I think you and I have discussed it before, but since you asked ;) :

Given a choice between a .45 and a .40 I would go with the .45 ACP simply for economy of cost and availability of ammo.

The XD is an excellent firearm. If the .45acp is half as good as the .40 that I shot once, it will be an excellent compliment to your little Bersa.

BTW, On Target is rumored to have an XD45acp in the rental case.

I would recommend the XD45 (ACP, GAP we don't need no stinking GAP) It's a great pistol shoots well and can be carried IWB with little effort. Steyr makes some nice pistols as well. Smith has a SW990L (Walther 45ACP & 40S&W) that some of my shooting buddies like.

Thanks guys. Thats all I needed. I checked springfields website real quick before I posted, but I didnt see anything on 45ACP.

Yes Norton, On-Target DOES have a 45 in the rental case:D Economy is also no longer an issue!! YaY for Good things happening to good people huh? Lets just say with my first paycheck from this job, I can pay off some bills, save money, have gas/cig/food money, and still buy a kimber :what: . Big change for me coming out of a restoration shop and not making anything. Anyway, looks like I have a new laundry list with the XD45ACP on top.

Thanks again everyone

S&W made some excellent .45acp pistols. Hunt the used market for some 3rd generation models.

A wise man (or woman) would give the CZ 97 .45cal a good look too. :) and for a .40 then the CZ 75B is hard to beat.

Never held a 75B, but I have fired a CZ40B (Spot77s) and loved it. Just cant find one LNIB used and I dont wanna force spot to sell his :) Anywho, this is the list so far..

Xd45ACP
FNP40
Kimber TLE 1911
FN 5.7 once I find a range I can shoot it at...

Anyway, thanks for all the good advise, especially you Steelharp

I know of a gunshop that has a 40b - it is not to far from my house and I have actually held it. It was on gunbroker and I will look to see if he still has it. It was used but as new.
That looks like a good list you have there at any rate.
