Hello,

I come to The High Road a lot for info on guns so I thought I would post my experience with my new CW9 and hopefully it will be useful to someone.
I purchased the gun and one additional magazine yesterday and today I took it out shooting. I shot

350 rounds of Federal 115 gr FMJ
50 rounds of Winchester 147 gr hollow points
25 rounds of Winchester PDX 124 gr plus p hollow points
25 rounds of Federal 135 gr low recoil hydra shok hollow points

I didn't have a single malfunction the gun was accurate and pleasant to shoot . I would highly recommend this gun to anyone looking for a light single stack 9mm. I think if I can find a good holster for it this gun will become my main carry gun.

Cheers

I just got a CM9 for myself, and I would like to get the CW9 for the wife. Thanks for the report!

I have the Mitch Rosen and the Don Hume holsters available on Kahr's website. Both are decent holsters for the money.

I held one yesterday at the range and it was a really nice grip. Its about the same size of a j frame but with a better grip for me. I also checked out the ruger lc9 and i liked the kahr better. Ill prob rent them both at the range in the next upcomming weeks.. Did you have any trouble aiming the little gun Madwell?? I was shooting my j frame yesterday and my aim really sucks but so do the sights on my gun

I have both the cw and the cm 9. love'm both. Very controlable for small light handguns.

Take a hard look at Comp-Tac holsters for IWB. I also like many have been thru several name brand holsters before the MTAC Neutral i have now. Like it very much. very well made soft leather ajustable and you can change the plastic holster only if you change handguns not the complete rig. Can't do that with other company's offereings.

Thanks for all the holster recommendations I'll start checking those out. I have some kydex laying around the house so I'm going to try and make one myself this afternoon.

SorenityNow I didn't have any trouble shooting the Kahr. I own a J frame as well and I find the Kahr easier to shoot YMMV.

Since I got my CW9, my J-frame has not seen much carry; really love the CW9. Take a look at the Kholster Crescent IWB holster ... it works well for my needs.

Have fun and good luck on the holster.

I've been think about gettin, a CM9 or a PF9. I've read several posts on Kahr Forum under CM/PM posts that they are hit or miss, more miss then hit. And need a trip or two back to the factory for a tweak or two. Now I know that the PF9 isn't made like the CM9 but it's also almost twice the price, so I'm not trying to bash anyone's dreams I'm just wanting to get a CCW pistol that when I need to pull the trigger I don't have to say ,,, itshay it didn't fireEH :what:

I'd rather pay the price for the PF9 and save some cash, of course  and from what I've been able to gather it's not hard to home-smith and buff it up into a reliable piece, but, if the CM9 is going to be as rely-able then I don't mind the price, just saying :uhoh: I'm having a hard time pickin one :banghead:

RinkRat, . . . what did you mean by, "I've read several posts on Kahr Forum under CM/PM posts that they are hit or miss, more miss then hit." Are you talking about Kahrs having more problems than they should?

Both KT and Kahr have a few issue's from time to time. But so does the 1300 dollar pistols. Part of the problems with the light weight pistols is the future ccw ability to read the info on the pistols then clean and relube them and just learn how it works. Then hold on tight enough to shoot them well. Really. I carried a pf-9 for 2 1/2 years and a couple thousand rounds and no issues. Only going on around 8 months with the Kahrs but I shoot them way more.

Had a guy offer me a Kahr cw9 that was "junk" .Just would not shoot a mag full of ammo. I cleaned it up relubed it read the manual on line and went out that week and shot 600 rounds trouble free thru it. 250 of those were HP. Bought a cm9 the next week and did the same with it and then sold the pf-9. I also use the 7 and 8 shot mags for the cm9 . If I wanted a nicely built pistol that was easy to shoot for most people and light enough for pocket carry today it would be another Kahr.

The KT line of pistols all seem to sell for right around 240 dollars here. The Kahr CW & CM line for around 410 dollars. To me they are worth the difference in price as they are easier to control and just smoother to operate with a way better trigger and better sights. BUT, if I had never shot the Kahr I would still be carry'n my KT pf-9. All this is after 20+ years of pocket carry'n a revolver

I've gotten about 500 rounds through my cw9 without trouble, as well. I even fed it some evil tula ammo and everything went off without a hitch.

I haven't bit the bullet on an expensive holster that I love yet. I'm sure I'll settle on a crossbreed for IWB and a mitch rosin for OWB. I did pick up this cheap one for OWB while I was shooting on my property:

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/42...rt-40-e9-k9-p9-k40-p40-leather-chestnut-brown

I fully expected it to be a piece o' junk as I just wanted anything to put it in while practicing with it, but the holster actually isn't that bad. I doubt I'd use it for carry unless I tried to tighten it up a bit.

If anyone has bought an OWB leather holster that has pretty good retention (no thumbreaks though), I'd love to hear it.

forumsurfer Give http://www.comp-tac.com/ and good look over. I tried a cross breed and sold it to a buddy . It took me 3 different makers and after this one I am done. 1 BIG plus with there leather backed holsters id if you deside you wnat to change brands of handguns to carry you only have to change the plastic holster not the leather goods with many of there models and you can change to a different model rig if thangs don't feel right. Very supple lether with or with out a glove lerther backing to them. I bought there MTAC Netural and carry my cw8 or cm9 in a appendix postition when I have to dress up a bit.

I like that feature, but the crossbreed style works for me so I've stuck with it. Here in NC as you know, we are forced to disarm in many places you may go to on a daily basis. I also don't like wearing an empty holster all day at work. I prefer kydex for that reason. I always get a little worried the leather may collapse and end up in the trigger guard. That isn't good with a glock or a kahr. :)

Speaking of disarming, that is one reason I don't like the crossbreed style or mtac style sometimes. Sometimes I like a holster that I can slip on and off easily.

I have been thinking about giving the infidel a try, though. The leather backing on other holsters is comfortable for something the size of a glock 19, but something like the infidel that is all kydex may be comfortable with something as small as a cw9. It should be pretty easy to take on and off, too.

I almost bought the infidel also but hate the plastic only and be'n a little bigger around the middle wanted the extra leather to help smooth out the edges. I bought a couple extra mounting hooks and cut the bottom of the belt hook off so i can slid it on and of with out fighting with the belt retainer part. I say on the videos that many guys add the large chunk of mole skin to back those naked plastic kydex holsters. I hate just the feel of plastic . But that may be just me. OH, I still had my pf-9 when I got my holster and found that it fit the kahr cw9 well enough to not know the difference with the adjustment screws pulled down just a bit more. At the time they did not have a model of a pf-9 to pattern. Later

Isn't this small enough for an in-pocket holster?

I know the J-frame that several said it replaces is, and I thought it's supposed to be carry-able in the front pants pocket.

Isn't this small enough for an in-pocket holster?

Not a CW9...at least not with MY pockets. :)

Besides, pocket carry isn't for me. I draw from IWB or OWB much, much faster. Not to mention I don't find pocket carry to be very comfortable for me. Something like a CW9 conceals under a tshirt and shorts just fine so I don't need to resort to pocket carry.

Let me type this again ;)

I'm not, I’ve said, I’m not here to bash and smash I just want to get a CCW that I can rely on at a fair reasonable price, some what worry free right out of the box. And Yes Virginia, dreams do come true

And there seems to be less good news and a little more bad news posted by CM/PM9 owners, most experiencing the same problems. Such as mag drop problems, miss feeds, FTE, nose-dives, recoil springs being installed during production either too long or too short <waz up with that QC department>, trigger issues. Go there and read for yourself.

As for both KT and Kahr have a few issues’ from time to time, so do Glocks. But to say so does the 1300 dollar pistols, if I’m paying that much for a pistol the gosh darn thing better work right from the get go if your charging that much, and your production crew better spend the time to get it right because I’m paying you plenty to do so. Kel-Tec`s cost less because they don’t spend the production time that say Kimber does. So why isn’t the Solo as reliable as the PF9 out of the box … oh crap :what: can you help me catch the worms escaping out my can :uhoh:

I used to own a PF-9. I sold it and bought a PM9. I like the kahr better. it is slightly shorter and the grip angle is a little flatter so it rides in my pocket better. My PF-9 was a good gun. I was able to reliable get failure to ejects whan I limp wristed it on purpose. I have never been in a gun fight so I am not sure how my grip would suffer under duress.

My kahr has been perfect with this test and any other pace I ran it through.

Bottom line buy a gun you like and stick it in you pocket. I like my kahr better than my kel tec.

RinkRat, so that has been the small Kahrs that have been getting the bad press? Any word on the larger CW9? Seems that most everyone I've seen post about them have been positive.

I'm contemplating a CM9 I can't afford a PM9, they seem to get a little bit better rap but, they are a few hundred dollars more so I guess you get what you pay for, sometimes?

My reserves are limited, that's why I'm also trying to decide between that and the PF9 which is much more affordable. I almost have enough for the CM9 so I can wait another couple weeks. Seems like most get a PF9 because of the cost savings and eventually graduate/upgrade to a CM9. Someone suggested a LC9 but I can't get past all the California safety additions. I guess it seems like the PF9 is the poor man's PM9 :neener:

I'd take what you read there with a grain of salt.

When people have a great experience, they generally don't run out and post about it. My cw9 runs great, but I'm only 500 rounds in so the jury is still out.

Take notice to this:

Had a guy offer me a Kahr cw9 that was "junk" .Just would not shoot a mag full of ammo. I cleaned it up relubed it read the manual on line and went out that week and shot 600 rounds trouble free thru it.

That's been my experience in many things. :)

rinkrat Just buy what you want and hope you get a good one. BUT if you don't get that great gun, have a seasoned pistol shooter give it a look over and some range time before you jump on some forum and start complain'n. Over the years I have seen so many guys showed up at a range with a brand new in the box firearm and had no idea how it worked and started shooting or jambing a fiream that had not been clean or lubed and then start bitch'n about the junk gun. They sound like so many post on so many forums. They can't think thru a problem or don't know how so they start whin'n. Just buy what you want and enjoy.

What did people do before the internet!!!!!
